Good food in relaxed atmosphere.

Great food at Gut Gabelbach. There is a nice relaxed American 50s atmosphere. The waiter is welcoming and funny (especially to children). The menu includes pastas, burgers and steaks. The salmon-pasta and the burger-gabelbach are highly recommended. We had a great meal there and have been back twice.

Wonderful

Absolutely fantastic. I felt welcome right at checkin, the lady helping me was very friendly and had a genuine smile on her face. The location is wonderful, right in the middle of the woods and allows the visitors to explore Thüringer Wald. Ample parking, nice rooms and great facilities, including a wide choice of saunas. The wellness area is very large and has a lot of spaces to relax too. One can choose between various temperatures. Everything’s spotless clean and the whole ambiance is simply amazing.

Fits for a business stay

We stayed at this hotel as part of an IT conference at the University of Ilmenau. Our suite was spacious. The state and design of the interior / wet room are quite functional, in cross comparison no longer correspond to a 4 star standard (stretched carpet!). We ate at both restaurants. The menu is manageable. However, the Quality of food on the different evenings varied greatly. The hotel lacks a passable wine list. It may be that there is too little demand in this region. Breakfast is good, egg dishes are freshly prepared. The staff is courteous but seems rather distant, lacking “the personal”. The swimming pool has a pleasant temperature, but is designed without love. We did not use the wellness area.

Arrive and relax!

We stayed here again after 5 years for a wellness holiday. You can really relax here very well. All staff are very friendly, the whole property is in very good and clean condition. There is a good and relaxed atmosphere and we felt very comfortable here again.
Our dog was also very welcome (but also costs 20 € per day extra).
Our room was modern and adequate in size even with dog. The SPA area has been enlarged, there are now additional relaxation rooms that have become really nice. There are alternating infusions every full hour! The swimming pool is really big so you can really swim even if there are several people inside. The gym is also very well equipped.
The choice for breakfast is really great - there is no wish left unfulfilled. There is always a selection of high-quality sausages and cheeses. Every day, egg dishes are prepared as desired. For vegans as well as allergy sufferers, there are plenty of products, freshly squeezed orange juice, even organic products from Rapunzel.
There are two restaurants, in both we ate dinner several times - it was always very delicious, value for money very good. Only the wine prices are quite upscale. Again, all employees were without exception very friendly and accommodating. You can start numerous hikes directly from the hotel.
We would definitely come back!
