It was an older hotel, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was not the best. We didn’t feel it was worth the cost.

Confirmed booking not respected – no help for family with children
We travelled from Zurich to Mannheim in the evening and had booked a family room at the Mercure Hotel Mannheim am Friedensplatz. Even before booking, we checked by phone whether a corresponding room was available, as we are travelling with a 10-month-old baby and a 5-year-old child. We have been explicitly confirmed. We then booked the room online and received a booking confirmation by email.
When we arrived at the hotel shortly before 20:00 at a time when our children were already very tired, we were told at the reception that no room was available. Despite present booking confirmation we had to wait about 30 minutes while internal consultation was held. Subsequently, we were told it was a system error. As a “solution”, we were only offered to book an additional second room or find ourselves another hotel.
This approach is unacceptable. It is particularly critical that we as a family with two young children in the evening were not organized an equivalent alternative. Instead, we were simply rejected.
The handling by the responsible management was extremely unprofessional. The boss was not solution-oriented and overall the staff made an inadequately trained impression.
In our view, this is a clear breach of the Treaty. Upon a confirmed booking, the hotel is obliged to either provide the agreed service or to provide an equivalent replacement accommodation and to cover any additional costs incurred.
We had to look for a new place to stay ourselves with two small, overtired children.
Based on this experience, we cannot recommend this hotel in any way. Just terrible.

Free roadside parking, very good price, hotel is a bit older in overall, staffs are not very responsive or helpful

Hotel close to motorway: ideal for stopover
Nice, spacious room with comfortable bathroom. The breakdown measures the central heating is well solved by installing electric radiator.
But the restaurant is a disaster: very limited menu for dinner, unsolicited croquettes at the burger because there are no more fries, only one of three desserts available. Breakfast nice offer and good quality but very busy, tables are only cleared so you have to look for a free seat. And 1 coffee machine for so many people is very little anyway.
An overcharge was first charged at check-out. The mistake was corrected with the smile. So pay attention

As a mercure hotel, steady clean, staff is nice and helpful. Room clean, nothing to say :)
