Personality, family atmosphere and feeling welcome.

I was in Mayen on business several times in 2025 and early 2026 and had a consistently positive experience at the Hotel Jägerhof. I would particularly like to highlight the family atmosphere that made me feel welcome every time. The hosts were friendly, attentive and helpful at all times, be it with short inquiries or with tips about the city and surroundings. The location of the house is ideal, especially for business travelers: It is close to the university and therefore easily accessible for appointments in the city; even walking activities or short distances to the center work without problems.
The room size was very pleasant, the room seemed spacious, pleasantly decorated and clean. The breakfast buffet was extensive and tasty; there was a good selection that made the start of the day perfect. The combination of comfortable room, nice service and central location made the stay worth recurring.
Criticism: The parking situation on site is a bit unfavourable as the hotel itself does not offer its own parking. Those coming by car must park in the surrounding street. As a rule, you can find a solution, but depending on peak hours, it can take a little more time to find the right pitch. Otherwise, the overall experience remains very positive: friendly hosts, good information about the city and a cozy, family atmosphere that makes the stay particularly pleasant.
Recommendation: If you value personal attention, quiet, comfortable accommodation in a central location and a good breakfast, Jägerhof Mayen is an excellent choice.

The rooms were a nice size with a well kept private bathroom. It was pretty warm when we entered, but cooled off after opening the windows for a while. Thankfully it was a little cool outside. Breakfast was tasty and filling, and all the staff members were very friendly and helpful.

I slept very well for the night. We were on the top floor, and I was able to have the window open for fresh air, it was nice. It’s a basic room with a tiny shower, but it worked! The owner was gracious, for we were there for a very short stay and didnt get to enjoy her beautiful dining room and breakfast, it looked marvelous!

Cozy and clean

Stayed at Jägerhof for 1 night and had a pleasant time. I needed a not to expensive hotel close to Polch. This was a great find, looked like a family hotel to me. I received keys to room 10 on the first floor, and although I only booked for one it had two beds, a table and two chairs, a desk, a huge bathroom and in that bathroom a couch. Which I thought was funny. The tv can be moved on the wall, to also be able to watch from the bed. The room, bathroom and toilet was super clean. The bed slept very comfortable. They provide tissues, shower gel, enough towels and some sweets. The room was dated, but I really did not mind. The restaurant area was nice and more modern and the lady whom worked this evening very helpful and sweet. I also had dinner here which was delicious. I ordered gamba’s baked in garlic and herbs and added some extra’s to make it a full meal. Normally it is an entree. Before this the lady brought some bread with a pepper cream cheese which was tasteful too. She did not mind my request to adjust the meal. I also ordered a bottle of water to bring to my room. The breakfast was good too. I got offered tea or coffee, there was orange juice, water and milk too. Next to that baked bread and normal bread. Soft boiled egg, meats and cheese, jams, Nutella, etc. yogurts and cereals, and even waffles and cake. Way too much for me, but I loved the options. They also provided a newspaper, which I thought was nice although I can’t read german.
There is no elevator, but the stairs were easy to climb. I did not hear other guests in other rooms. The lady in the evening and the other lady in the morning both spoke English which was very convenient for me, since I am insecure on my German. I must say I was sad to see only one other table occupied in the restaurant in the evening. They deserve more customers, really enjoyed the food. Although I think there were more hotel guests, because I saw some people walking in and out.
