Beautiful short break with great views, ideal for hikers

Great view, secluded, quiet, nice rooms, good breakfast, value for money in order. Very nice welcome and service at breakfast. Restaurant was not managed during our visit. Many restaurants within a short drive.

13 Days in Rimsting

Excellent hotel with a kind staff. Just a short drive to downtown Prien and easy access to the A8 (Autobahn) and Rosenheim (20km). Restaurant is excellent, although breakfast is limited (included in room price). The views are priceless and the kids enjoy an amazing well built playground. Just up the hill is a local Schnapps distillery with a kind setting that is unique to the local culture. As a drawback be warned, this property, like most in the area, does NOT have air conditioning. Business visitors should be aware that the free WiFi is less than reliable on the top floor.

A country hotel

My wife and I have visited this hotel at least 25 times in the last 40 years. We have seen the hotel grow and keep up to date. We were last there in October of 2014 and stayed for one week. The owner and his son speak very good English and are always happy with sightseeing tips for us. Thee have been additions and improvements in the restaurant in the past few years. We always feel welcome when we walk in the door of the hotel. There is not an elevator in the hotel but thee are rooms on three floors The ground level rooms are great for guests that cannot climb the steps. We like it because it is only an hour away from Munich or Salzburg and lots of exciting places. When we are there we often set out in another direction because there are so many sights. It is located in the countryside so an automobile is needed.

It's the View, Stupid!

Or isn't it? Well, we found our room to be quite spacious and well serviced, though w/o a mini fridge and a much too small flatscreen TV. It's quiet up on Ratzinger Hoehe, except every single car passing on the street below can be heard (however virtually none passes between 11 and 6). The gasthof's biergarten noises die down early enough (kitchen closes at 8.30 p.m.) for guests not to be bothered. Bed's king sized, but with two mattresses (as is the rule in Germany) that are a bit on the soft side. Very large bath and good shower (no tub in our case). Breakfast is between 8 and 10 a.m., out on the Eastern terrace, and serviced by very friendly staff (which is equally true for that serving the biergarten, thank you). Choice and variety is something that leaves room for improvement. And yes, the view is addictive ...
We'll be back.
PS. Oh, just a thought, but maybe the owner could be a little more attentive regarding his guests, and not so his cars ...

Outstanding Accommodations!

My husband & I found this Gasthaus on a last minute trip to the Chiemsee Castle. It has gorgeous views, excellent food, warm hospitality, clean & comfortable accommodations. Just a short ride up the mountain to this lovely chateau on the hillside. I would highly recommend this beautiful Gasthaus for your stay in Chiemsee. In fact, we're on our way back with the children this summer!
