Quiet, clean hotel – ideal for business travellers

I was close to business and completely satisfied. The room was clean, quiet and very pleasant. Value for money is right, breakfast is neat and the hosts are friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for a business trip – there is nothing to complain about.

More historical than charming – unfortunately badly neglected

I award 2 out of 5 points, and this exclusively for the very friendly and devoted hostess. Her appearance was the only real positive thing about my stay.
The Historik-Hotel Zum Ochsen itself is unfortunately in a clearly worn and unkempt condition. “Historikhotel” means above all old – not charming or well preserved.
Despite a request for a quiet room, my room was directly facing the church. From Sunday morning at 5 am, the ringing made it impossible to sleep.
The bathroom was particularly problematic: very outdated, with significant mold in the shower. The condition was such that you don't really want to shower. Added to this were cobwebs and lack of cleanliness (photos are available).
The single bed was fine in size, but the mattress completely sagged. The wooden furniture is badly damaged and worn out. The TV's remote control stopped working shortly after it was turned on – the TV itself was one of the few newer elements.
In addition, it is very noisy in the evening when restaurant guests smoke and talk outside in the courtyard.
Conclusion: A house with potential, but currently clearly in need of renovation and maintenance. Without fundamental improvements I can not recommend the hotel.

Hidden gem

I stayed here for 2 nights on the way back to the UK from Bavaria and Austria.
The hotel is housed in what was the town hall, it's over 500 years old so is quirky and nog like a modern hotel.
The room was spacious with a nice table and seating area, clean and comfortable. I had views to the church and high street.
The church bells ring on the hour, it didn't worry me but if you are a light sleeper you might want ear plugs.
Breakfast was really nice with a good selection.
The location is very peaceful in a village, but an easy drive or train journey into Ludwigsburg and Stuttgart.
The restaurant downstairs is excellent, serving a good range of food including local Schwabian meals.
Dave an Ines are excellent hosts, very welcoming.
Overall, an excellent stay.

Quaint, true German experience - don't miss out on this little gem

This guesthouse was built in 1490! The whole street is just so quaint! The old church is right behind the hotel. We slept with the windows open and enjoyed the church bells.
Tamm was such a great area. We rented a car in Frankfurt, but while we were in Tamm we walked down to the train station and took the train over to Ludwigsburg 2 days in a row. The half timbered hotel looks like it belongs in a Disney movie. The couple that runs the hotel were awesome hosts. Dave and Ines took care of every detail. We loved eating breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. We enjoyed a delicious meal of authentic German food in the restaurant our first night. We spent 4 nights and used this as our "homebase" to explore the surrounding area. We had everything we needed in our room. We loved the hot showers with great water pressure. We want to come back during the spring to enjoy the outside garden and the spring volksfest in Stuttgart. This will definitely be our home again our next trip to Germany.

Beautifully restored half-timbered house. Inside as well as outside.

The Historic Inn "Ox" in the center of the village Tamm, makes a nice impression. The half-timbered building has been restored from the outside and inside. In the main street, near the old town hall and the fortified church, makes a good impression. The hotel rooms are functional and attractively furnished. It looks warm and cozy through the many wood on ceilings and walls. A decent price / performance ratio. Our guests we had stayed there, felt very comfortable.
This review is only for the hotel - NOT for the restaurant.
