I've stayed in over 20 hotels in Lagos this year and The Ambassadors Hotel was one of the best. The free breakfast was wonderful and filling. It's a beautiful hotel

Poor Service

The Hotel is badly run by untrained staff and nonchalant management. The service is so poor, food is so no, no, no and the staff need training on hospitality management.
To imagine this hotel is located on high brow Ikoyi beats my imagination.

Definitely not worth the money-Terrible Value Poor Staff

Stuck in Lagos in the dark, I decided to stay overnight in Ikoyi rather than risk a night drive over to my normal Ikeja Hotel closer to the International Airport to depart Nigeria the next day.
I still cannot believe how some Nigerian Hotels (and The Ambassadors is a typical example) can charge 175USD/ 100 UKP a night for a poor service and low standard of Accomodation that would not meet one star standard anywhere else in the world.
I arrived in the dark and was immediately directed to the hotel annex down the road.
On checking in I decided to have a drink outside in the the thatched bar area, only to find the fhat the outside bar did not have any drinks and the large standing fans to keep cool and drive away mosquitoes were not working- Infact one fan did not even have any fan blades!!
I stayed in the Lavender One room, on the ground floor just off the reception in the annexe.
This is a mid range price room on the tariff. It is a double bedroom with bathrom, albeit small.
The bathroom window had no curtain and as there was a corridor outside, all staff using this corridor could see straight in when I was having a shower. In the bathroom were also exposed wires and there was no toilet paper.
The shower flex was at a maximum height that it could really only shower a midget and on flushing the toilet the water comes out brown,
The bedroom had a safe that required a whole page of instructions to set the code and as the safe was on the floor it was almost impossibe to read the dial.
I was so annoyed when having had a drink in reception and immediately paid it, the next day I was rudely accosted by another waiter in reception, in front of other guests, who insisted I had not paid for the beer.
Breakfast was as a poor affair of Nigerian and European dishes. The dining room staff were completely inattentive and unhelpful. The fruit juice supplied was a sickly tasting syrup mix of different fruits and on asking for a bottle of water, there was again a drama of how I was to pay for this.
To crown it all I asked for a hotel car to take me to the airport the next morning and the driver tried to over charge me on arrival as I had asked the price from the receptionist before hand.
Would I stay here again?? NO WAY. This hotel sums up everything bad about the worst of Hotelery in Nigeria. At 50USD a night I would not give a review like this. At 175USD a night?? Never Again will I stay here.
