Lovely stay in a spacious suite in a prime location in the heart of Schier

This beautiful and well-maintained hotel is located right in the center of Schiermonnikoog, within ideal walking distance of shops, restaurants and beautiful nature. We stayed in one of the spacious suites in the annex (less than 100 meters from the main building).
The suite was fully equipped: a comfortable bed, a separate seating area and a handy kitchenette with tea and coffee making facilities. The balcony with two chairs was a lovely place to relax. The bathroom was spacious and very comfortable with a rain shower.
The hotel restaurant has a nice Mediterranean atmosphere and an excellent menu at reasonable prices. The breakfast buffet was also extensive and well cared for. An added plus is the free bus service to and from the ferry, which makes the trip very relaxing. In short: highly recommended!

Especially don't book here.

Dated hotel.
Atmosphereless room/apartment.
Breakfast bad. There was no replenishment.
Containers of coffee and tea always empty.
Coffee was lame bite.
Unfriendly treatment.
No lounge and everything closed in the evening.
In short it was a really big disappointment. Price / quality disproportionate.
Hotel is on sale!!!!

Quickly gone again

Only used the terrace. Wanted a cappuccino with an extra shot of espresso (also called flat white if I'm not mistaken).
This would not be possible, so I ordered a double espresso. My wife wanted an apple juice. Where her apple juice was served neatly in a glass bottle with glass, my espresso was served in a paper cup. Something you expect at a snack bar but not at a hotel with a 'name'. It would be too busy to serve coffee in cups.

High expectations.. but much against.

Not a second time for us. Nice hotel that certainly but the service during breakfast was disappointing. Especially in a busy Whitsun weekend far too few staff and waiting for coffee and tea water, among other things, should not happen. Lines for hwt buffet. The suite at Reeweg 11 so not in the main house is neat and reasonably new but very much noise from the road and adjacent cafe and camping farm at night. Was just a bit disappointing all in all.. too bad.

A room with a view on the garbage

First we were given a room in a building 100 meters away. We had a lot of luggage staying for five days with a small child. No assistance was offered after having waited some 10 minutes until some waiter could give us the key as there was nobody at the reception. The room was on the street, very loud with the bar next door with drinking until 1 am. Luckily the hotel was flexible and we could get a room in the main building with now a view on the garbage above the kitchen. My wife got food poising after a breakfast, so we went thereafter for cheaper and better options. The staff does not speak Dutch. No problem for us but one of the clients complained about this to the hotel manager (who was rarely around), and his response was not the most pleasant one. The hotel is well located centrally and has some character, however it is up for sale now since three years and for the moment this is not a place where we would return.
