Pleasant experience
Basic standard, but clean and proper. Great service, friendly staff. Good breakfast. If the weather is nice, it is recommended to enjoy the view with a glass on the terrace. All in all a pleasant and positive surprise at an ok price. Recommended if you do not need luxury and great interior.

No luxury, but fine enough
Nice staff, clean everywhere.
Dinner was good for taste absolutely, but nothing for the eye. For dessert, hot apple cake, here should probably be vanilla ice cream. Asked for it, but they didn’t, got a berry ice cream that was actually a dessert of their own. Breakfast was sparse, dry bread. The egg was very hard boiled, green edge. The apple juice container was empty. Even though it was low season, there is not much to choose from on the breakfast table, but what is there is of good quality.
Nice with the balcony so one could sit outside and enjoy the great view.
Large room and large bathroom, just missed something to put away toiletries and diverse on. We put in a chair for that use.
One of us had birthday, around the day, lit about it in front and on the spot, but no attention as we are used to other places we have been.

A wonderful hotel with character
Stayed here recently and read some recent reviews as we approached town. They were not very positive reviews and this left us worried. However, we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. If you are looking for the Four Seasons and impeccable everything this place is not for you. If you enjoy a unique stay in a place with character you should have a wonderful time. Everything was very clean (keeping in mind it is not a sanitised chain hotel), the staff were very helpful. The balcony view is incredible. We stayed in a 2nd floor room and the problem from came from a guest smoking on the patio despite clear no smoking signs. We did not have dinner so I have no comments on that. Travelling from Canada, we find all the buffets in Norway to be exceptional and this location kept that consistent. Accept that you are going to a hotel that has developed its own "patina" over many years and you should have a wonderful stay.

We couldn't have lasted more than one night
Nice location on the fjord but.....
The hotel is more than old. Sometimes such places exude charm and seem nostalgic, but not like this hotel. The furniture is old, worn and thrown together, anything but vintage in style, more from the 80s or 90s. The old carpet in the room emits a musty smell. Don't worry, you suffer from a dust mite allergy! Our toilet made a heathen noise while flushing. Only the bed was comfortable and also clean.
There was a lounge on the terrace restaurant, but the pillows were heavily soiled by bird droppings. The breakfast buffet was limited to the minimum of choice and quality.
It was also the only hotel on our trip that required a credit card to reserve a deposit on it. As if something could have been broken even more here!
The owner is nice and tries to outshine the shortcomings with a smile, so you can't even be tempted to criticize.
Our "suite" (touted by the man at the reception as the most beautiful room!) was located in the old part. I don't know if the side wings have ever been renovated?

Disappointing stay
Disappointing stay – the hotel needs an upgrade
The hotel is in very worn condition and should definitely undergo a complete renovation. The rooms lack both ventilation and TV, making the stay uncomfortable – especially on hot days.
The food selection is miserable, and the quality of the food is simply a shame. Guests are divided into groups for meals, especially breakfast, and can actually be thrown out if “their” time is over. This is perceived as unhospitable and disrespectful. The breakfast itself is very poor with minimal selection.
Nobody in the staff speaks Norwegian, even though this is a hotel in Norway. Many older guests had obvious difficulties communicating with the staff, creating unnecessary frustration.
If you only need a place to sleep for one night and don’t expect anything else, it can work. But as a whole, this is not a place I would recommend. The hotel should actually be closed and refurbished before it can again offer a decent stay. And a good cook should be hired.
