Comfortable, quiet, and welcoming

Another fantastic stay at Matador Motel. We stayed in a superior studio for 5 nights while visiting family, and once again enjoyed our time here. Room was very comfortable and clean, and was serviced daily. We always feel welcome here. A great spot to base yourself when exploring the Wairarapa.

A gem of a motel in a small Wairarapa town. Looks simple on the outside - anything but once you meet the hosts and stay

This is a fantastic motel to stay in if visiting Carterton or touring the Wairarapa. The rooms are light, airy, fantastically clean and everything is kept in tip top condition. This was our second stay here and we choose the Matador because the owners are fantastic and they are a "dog friendly" motel which suits us and our two pooches.
It has a wonderful pool to relax in and an outdoor BBQ area if you wish to relax and watch the sun set over the Tararuas. We have stayed in many places around the world and the Matador has to be one of the best we have stayed in. A real little gem hidden away in this Wairarapa town.

Thanks so much

Spent 5 nights here while on business and can't thank the hosts enough for being so well cared for. The room was so comfortable,spotlessly clean and well stocked. It was a treat to have complimentary biscuits and sweets restocked very day too.

Great Carterton Motel

We booked into this motel on a cold wet night after finding we couldn’t get into our family home till the next day. We were lucky there was a vacancy and were given a room with a Queen bed and single bed for my 89 year old mum and I. The room was just what we needed spacious clean had a tv with Netflix which we didn’t use but good to know. The shower had a good water flow lovely and hot seperate toilet from the shower and wash basin. The kitchen was well stocked and we made us both a cup of tea. The heater worked well and we were so grateful. The beds had lovely crisp sheets pillows were good height and we both had a good nights sleep.The wifi worked well and on reading the booklet provided about how to use the wifi we were very happy. This Motel is on the main road to Masterton and close to eating places and a super liquor store so it was handy to grab dinner across the road a few drinks couple of doors down so very handy to convenience stores also next door to a Mobil service station.A big thank you to the lovely owners sorry I forgot your names but mum and I had a lovely stay and would highly recommend your Motel to friends and Whanau.

3 night stay at Matador Motel - February 2024

We really enjoyed our stay at Matador Motel last week. Barry and Colleen are very friendly and helpful, the accommodation was just right for us as far as location and facilities are concerned. We'll definitely be staying there again. Thanks!
