⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful Stay – Thank You, Paul!
Paul at Brinkley Resort was incredibly helpful and made our trip more enjoyable. He showed us local sights and even lent us his car while we waited for snow.
We loved the outdoor hot tub—it’s perfect for relaxing in the cold.
Paul’s kindness made our stay memorable. Highly recommend Brinkley Resort!

Exuberant rates for what is offered. This is not a 4star resort by any means. It is cozy and warm and clean linen
This is very overpriced for the condition of the apartments, which are run down and old. We were charged $385NZ for 1 night for a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The sheets/towels were clean and we slept and left. Based on other accommodation we stayed at in NZ they should be more in the $250-$280 range and a rip off. Here are the flaws we found and I would not give 4stars. 1) No lock on toilet or shower 2) The shower head is in the bath had low flowing water. Takes a while for 4 to get ready 3) 1 plastic tube sized amenity set for 4 people very stingy 4)The brown quilt cover was well used and had threads lose and well past its use 5) Our settee was 4 separate square blocks to watch TV 5) WIFI very sketchy yes it may have fibre, but you don't use a home set-up for a village you need a repeater not a router on a brick wall outside the room 6) In my double bed i could feel the springs poking through as so used. 7) This is not a 24x7 manned resort it is managed by a caretaker if you can find him even on checkout, so we could not relay this info. 8) Everything measured out like 4 teabags exactly, enough soap powder in a plastic dish for 1 wash, no hankies or anything. 9) Our cooker was so old it was showing rust. 10) Just our luck the bathroom cabinet wood was broken at the bottom again age thing. If you are going to charge exuberant prices you should at least provide the quality expected for that price. In contrast we stated in a 3bed villa for $275 night and $175 near the stadum in Christchurch, so yes I do know the prices in NZ.

We would like to clarify a few points for future guests. Our management team is based on-site, with staff available 24/7 for guest assistance. During the day we have multiple staff working across our two-hectare resort, assisting guests in reception, the restaurant, conference centre and throughout the property. If a staff member is temporarily away from reception, they are generally assisting other guests elsewhere on site. Had any concerns been brought to our attention during your stay, we would have been more than happy to address them immediately.
Our property has recently been upgraded with high-speed fibre internet, supported by multiple repeaters throughout the resort, providing fast and reliable Wi-Fi coverage across the complex.
We also provide a full range of kitchen cleaning products under the sink, along with complimentary tea, coffee and milk for guests on arrival. Our two-bedroom apartments are fully self-contained and our rates are competitive for the Methven market, reflecting the facilities provided and seasonal demand. We continually review our pricing to ensure it remains in line with comparable accommodation in the area.
Some of the features mentioned, such as bathrooms not having internal locks, are standard in many family accommodation properties and are not something we have previously received concerns about.
We continually invest in maintaining and upgrading our apartments and appreciate all constructive feedback. Your comments regarding the bed, bathroom cabinet and kitchen appliances have been passed on for inspection.

Compact - nice bathroom.. kitchen facilities for self catering
As we drove in to this good looking resort we had the alarming feeling that we were actually in a retirement village.
However the self check in went well, although in the rain , an upstairs room with outdoor uncovered stair access was probably not the greatest for carrying luggage and trying to keep dry. The room , while compact, was convenient. Although if we had had suitcases, rather than just carry on luggage, we would have struggled as to where to put them without falling over them.
( We put our luggage on the kitchen floor. )
There are no armchairs, but a small table with two chairs, and a small wall mounted television.
A bonus was the laundry next door to our room which appeared to be free of charge, however we did not see any washing powder or laundry liquid (take your own if you are planning to do your laundry)
While it did not appear to be busy, the weather made it hard to tell. However the dozen or so men gathered in the accommodation across the driveway certainly seemed to be having a lot of fun, and as the good cheer flowed the conversations got quite a bit louder well into the late evening

Brinkley Resort welcomes a wide mix of guests including families, couples and tour groups. During your stay we happened to have a group of mature travellers enjoying the region — they certainly know how to have a good time!
Our Studio Apartments are our most compact and affordable option, while guests wanting more space may prefer our larger 2 or 3 bedroom apartments.
Just to clarify, the guest laundry is complimentary and washing powder is provided in the studio (located under the kitchen sink with the other supplies).
Unfortunately we can’t control the alpine weather, but we hope you were still able to enjoy your time in beautiful Methven.

The checking in was frustrating we arrive at one o’clock now one in office so came back at 2 o’clock now one there so phoned told she won’t be far. Half an hour later 4 customer waiting the lady finally arrived. Not a good look.
There was 2 of us stay for 3 nights. Only one lot of toiletries in the bathroom and on the second day asked for more toilet paper. Sorry you have to pay for more.
These could have been a small cost to the Resort for people who are stay more than one night.
Also the rooms weren’t serviced while we stayed.
