Recommended

The location is excellent, due to its proximity to the Plaza de Armas, bars and restaurants. It facilitates the meeting point for tours and if you want to go out at night. The very helpful attention of Mrs. Mori, always watch for any requirements and recommendations. Small but cozy room with hot water in the room. I would like to highlight Mrs Mori’s kindness and reception and to point out that they should have more staff who can help her, as you do not see more staff in the accommodation.

Loved it!

We loved this hotel. The owners were so understanding and helpful. The room was adorable and we loved the rooftop patio. We had lovely baked goods and freshly squeezed juice for breakfast in the lovey sitting area.

Close to the center

A nice and quiet place between Plaza del Armas and Monastery. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Lot of informations about the local attractions. Easy to get help booking trips. Breakfast included. I strongly recommend.

Great location, interesting experience

We stayed at El Caminante for 2 nights when we were in the city and it was a fun experience. It's run by a lady who is clearly over-stressed with work and running the place and only speaks Spanish. It was an interesting experience but overall funny to communicate in broken Spanish.
Positives: They organised a tour for us to colca canyon, at a great price, upon arrival.
Breakfast was really nice.
Have a nice rooftop that looks over the city (note: no seating up there)
Clean showers and rooms
Negatives: Gated, so you weren't free to enter or exit when wanted, always had to ask reception. We always felt bad coming home later at night and leaving early in the morning for the people who had to let us in/allow us out.
The owner had the opportunity to come in to the shared bathrooms and the rooms at any time, which was a bit uncomfortable.

Mixed feelings about this place.

We have mixed feelings about this place.
First, to be positive : it's ideally located and very clean. We slept well there.
Now, we booked two double rooms for Christmas (via Booking) and one couple was requested to change in the middle of the stay. Eventhough they adjusted the pricing to the room (which had no private bathroom, so cheaper), we had to wait for the other guests to check-out and the room to be cleaned before we could move in. We underwent their lack of organization.
Also, there was only one woman to deal with the cleaning, the reception and the breakfast preparation of the hostel which is divided in two buildings. Put aside that it felt she was overexploited and about to have a burnout out of exhaustion, we were locked in or out of the place a couple of time because she was in the other building. Seriously, seeing this woman run up and down to deal with everyone made us feel terrible...
Finally, please put the (tiny yet annoyingly loud) neighbor's dog on sedative!
