Great Hotel in Tarapoto

We stayed here in January 2020, Wow great staff and wonderful services. Beautiful place to stay while vacationing with family. Hot water, Great internet and breakfast. Airport shuttle, I just cant say enough about this place. We travel a lot and this is one of our favourite hotels.

Awful experience

I needed a place to sleep in Tarapoto before an early morning flight. The reviews seemed good and the price was right, so I booked this hotel on a whim. As soon as I arrived, I got a bad vibe from the front desk staff as well as the tacky painting of a woman in a bra pursing her lips above my bed. I didn't feel safe at this place, so I immediately bolted the door on the inside, but I was unable to reopen it again to get out (old and rusty). I wasn't able to open the window, so I picked up the phone to call the front desk and got no ring tone (out of order). I had to bang on the window and finally staff came to help get me out. It was a real scare for me! I was so thirsty, but they provide no drinking water. I asked if I could have a water at the front desk and they were quick to charge me. I could barely sleep at night because I felt unsafe and there was constant loud noise from traffic, barking dogs, and slamming doors. I was expecting a safe in the room, but there wasn't one. Shower had almost no pressure and only cold water. The air conditioning was satisfactory. I'm not usually one to complain, but I had a very negative experience at this property. I was so happy to leave without a problem.

Great stay at Royal Kerkus

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They always remembered our room numbers and asked us about how our tours went. They were able to answer any question we had and always followed up with us to make sure that we found what we needed. Breakfast was filling and varied day to day. The hotel is just 5-10 minutes from the main Plaza in mototaxi (4-5 soles). Highly recommend!
