Very Central
Enjoyed a two night stay here with a party of friends, I was sharing a room with two others, but the room was easily big enough, we even had a balcony over looking the main street, Receptionist, Monica, was lovely, very helpful, and spoke great English, which was great, for dealing with some of the odd questions from some of our group. I enjoyed my breakfasts, a very Polish affair, nothing fancy but all good. one gripe I do have, is using the lift down to the breakfast room, no stairs, I haven't a clue how you get out in a hurry !!! All in all a very pleasant stay, and I will stay there again.

An absolute catastrophe
The hotel is very centrally located, but the noise is enormous. Sleeping is out of the question. The room has no air conditioning and therefore gets very hot. The hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. The carpet was absolutely filthy, the furniture was dusty and the bathroom appeared to have been uncleaned.

Location very good in old town
Very noise on weekeds.Romm needs refreshment.the food is also cheap and dont taste well, Its Better to find some Good food at the oldtown.The Price od the hotel is not adequate to the quality less....

Cheap and cheerful
In November 2015, I stayed 4 nights at the Hotel Polonia. The hotel is very well located indeed: It is in the northern part of the Old Town, on the Theatre Square, and right opposite the Theatre. All sights, attractions, restaurants, and bars are within walking distance. Plus, there's lots of public transport (bus, tram) on Theatre Square which brings you to the train station, etc.
I had made an on-line-booking for a single room with breakfast for four nights. I got a room on the 5th floor, and there was a lift which worked well. The room was clean but quite small, and a bit old-fashioned in terms of furniture, but I was fine with it: I had paid PLN 420 = GBP 69.30 for four nights, that's less than GBP 17.33 per night.
There was a bed (quite small), a beside table with a drawer and a working radio alarm clock, a lamp, a table with a TV on it, a relatively large wardrobe (with only 2 hangers though - but I guess I could have asked for more), a chair, and a sort of bench for the suitcase.
Looking at the room, the bathroom was comparatively big. Shower cabin with well-working shower (one-hand mixer), sink, toilet basin. There was a bar of soap and shampoo which was replaced daily. A glass. Toilet paper, and brush (I mention the latter because I like to have one.) Towels were changed daily, when the room was cleaned & the bed was made.
The breakfast buffet was actually quite good, see my photos:. Quite a choice of simple Polish food: Scrambled egg, with warm Frankfurter sausages; boiled egg with mayonnaise; various cold kinds of sausages; different pickled fish; various cheeses; various vegetables (tomato, cucumber, onion,...); yoghurt; muesli, choice of cakes, choice of cornflakes etc.; coffee, tea, milk, water, juice-like (artificial) drinks.
Staff, all of whom spoke English, were very helpful, very friendly. In my view, the service was excellent.
I would certainly recommend the Hotel Polonia - if you're fine with "cheap and cheerful".
PS:
A colleague of mine slept in a hostel nearby and he did not pay much less - but he had no breakfast, and shared the bathroom/toilet. We agreed I had a much better deal.
PPS: I read something about a noisy club. Yes, there is a club in the basement of the building, and it was busy on Saturday - but only until 11pm or so. Not a problem at all for me (5th floor room).

Long time ago...
Location very Good next to bus station and close to the old town makes it Fantastic.
But the rest leaves it a lot to be desired. Romm needs refreshment, bathroom was not Good. Service was not to helpful- we wanted a room away from the street reconstrution that was at the time and we Got a room exactly Above the noise.
At the breakfest you may feel a little bit strange since it is organised in a cellar and doesnt look Good :/ the food is also cheap and dont taste well. Its Better to find some Good food at the oldtown.
