Design hotel with excellent location

Great location in the historic center of Caminha. Accommodation in three rooms with different designs. The pool was a little busy as the hotel was full. Good temperature. Only the Turkish bath worked.
Dinner at the hotel with a wide and varied menu Cod with four types of preparation. With exquisite broa. Two bottles of wine hotel invitation..Prices even cheaper than in nearby restaurants.
Hearty and varied breakfast. Attention and treatment very attentive by the staff.
It needs maintenance on the windows and wooden balcony of the rooms, as it was opened in 2013.

Bad experience

This hotel was very disappointing. The rooms and hallways had a very strong odor like mold. The pool area was in the basement. Had no air circulation and also smelled of mold. The electricity in our room went out. When checking with the reception they said they couldn’t do anything and that it was the key card that was faulty. We had no air conditioning and no lights. We had to flip a fuse box switch every 40 minutes to keep the lights going. The hotel did nothing and did not provide a discount, refund or anything. Truly horrible. I would never stay there again.

Great location

Very well located hotel, friendly staff. Some shortcomings to point out such as the lack of cabodes to hang the towels, in the shower the water flooded the part of the toilet, difficulty using the shower, I chose a hand shower and water came out by the shower from above... the breakfast had a lot of variety from fruits, breads, cakes, eggs... the dinner in the restaurant left to be desired, I wasn't enchanted... the atmosphere of the indoor pool becomes heavy by smelling too much moisture and mold and the pool was pretty dirty! It is a beautiful hotel, the garden and restaurant area is quite relaxing! The experience in general was positive but with details that should pay more attention!

Just find another place to stay

The total rudeness of the checkin experience was like nothing I have encountered.
You would think you might see the common thread with your one star ratings, and that is total rudeness of staff.
You would think if you don’t like people you would not be in the hospitality industry.
It’s just mind boggling.
And second huge issue …., mould.
If you are thinking of staying , reconsider, and do yourself a favour, find elsewhere. Small, noisy, run down rooms, too. There is no design. Just a tiny noisy run down room.
There is mould in entire building. Our room stunk of the air freshener they had plugged in, to disguise it, which made you gag, and then when you pulled it out of the socket, the room stunk of sewerage and mould.
The shower has two pages of instructions. And was still a trickle.And there is no coffee only paper cups.

A charming hotel

Looking for deals to spend the year with my family, I got at this small design hotel, in Caminha, Portugal.
We were delighted!
Very helpful and polite staff. A special thanks to Isabel from reception and Felipe, his wife and other colleagues who attended us very lovingly and carefully at the New Year's Eve dinner.
The rooms have different names and themed decorations. They are modern, clean and very complete.
The unbeatable location, in the historic center of the city and facing the Minho River.
New Year's Eve dinner hearty, tasty and complete.
It was a wonderful experience!
I don't give it the 5 stars for small details, such as that the bathroom plug in our room didn't work or the water temperature in the spa pool (which we know is heated by solar cells and even though it was quite sunny those days) wasn't warm enough, or that we lacked hot food at breakfast.
Would we repeat experience?
No doubt about it!
