Great Little Hotel

We booked this online via a travel company, then read the reviews on Trip Advisor and were more than a little worried!
What we discovered was totally different to some of the poor reviews left recently.
We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff with excellent English.
The hotel is well kept and our room was spotlessly clean and had good quality beds and bedding.
Breakfast was great with a good selection of food and drinks on offer.
The outside pool area was well maintained and the pool cleaned daily by some little robotic device.
The location is good for getting to the metro and train station. The bridge and old town are about 10 - 15 minutes walk away.
My only slight gripe is that you have to pay to use the inside heated pool - or at least you do if it’s not in your package - this is more about LoveHolidays than the hotel though.
Well worth considering and I’d certainly come again.

Long holiday

The hotel is located in Vila Nova de Gaia, in an excellent location a 10-minute walk from the Morro Garden and just a little further from the Don Luis Bridge. Despite being next to the highway, little is heard.
The hotel is well equipped, having everything necessary for a 4* hotel, good cleanliness, sympathy of the staff, nice swimming pool with mat for all guests. The breakfast is well served, with quality and good quantity and variety. The rooms are a bit dark, there should be more light during the night but they are comfortable, cozy, clean and well equipped. Overall, we really liked the hotel and highly recommend it.

Not recommend this hotel

Speaking of the positive things first, the room was big and clean. We chose the romantic pack and when we arrived there were roses in the bed and a baby.
When we arrived they told us that we had to pick up the towels for the pool and toucas at the reception of the spa. But when we arrived at the reception there was nobody there. We talked to an employee who said she was going to call her colleague. 15 minutes passed and no one came. We went to the pool without a towel. Not only we but more customers were waiting for attention from the reception of the spa, wait 15-20 min for attention, and still not showing up nobody is very bad.
Then when we went back to our room and we were getting dressed, they knocked at our door saying it was for maintenance.
It was very disrespectful, with two guests in the room, do the maintenance, this should be done when the room is empty, and do not bother the guests.
We scheduled breakfast for 9:00 in the room, and at 9:20 we had to call the reception to ask them to send the breakfast, because they had forgotten.
The hotel leaves much to be desired in organization, and staff, in this case the lack of it. Everyone we dealt with was very nice, but leaves a lot to be desired.
I will not return because the experience was not pleasant.

Lack of attention to details

We informed that it would be our wedding anniversary and was not taken into account, we received a room that was not in condition.
The floor of our room was very dirty, I spoke 2 times with the reception and it was not resolved, we were not given slippers and then walking barefoot just a little I got my feet very dirty as if the floor had not been cleaned for a long time

Fine for a few nights.

A hotel stylishly furnished in all areas; just not in the restaurant. There is an atmosphere like in a waiting room.
The menu (available online) is not impressive in terms of the number of dishes. (but it is well prepared and tastes good)
The next restaurant is a 20-minute walk away.
Moreover, the restaurant is hard to find. The signage leads to the breakfast restaurant.
