One week of luxury
We stayed at the hotel June 20-27.
It is a hotel dating back to beautiful and well preserved.
We stayed in a double room and it was quite generous in size.
It was comfortable if slightly hard mattresses for our taste. The room was nicely decorated, and with a fresh bathroom with bath/shower.
Our package included breakfast and a five-course dinner.
The food was very good. The breakfast had everything you could wish for and the dinners were fantastically well prepared.
For starters, a buffet of salads was served, supplemented each day with three to four different delicacies, often based on a specific theme such as Italy, Asia or Austria. Already here you could eat more than full. Then a soup was served.
The main course and dessert were almost fine dining.
Between main course and dessert, you were served a cheese buffet.
The staff were friendly, service minded and behaved professionally.
In addition to the rooms, the nice dining room and the fantastic food, we also had access to the hotel's spa area. There we spent an hour in the hot tub and sauna every afternoon!
We are very pleased with our week in Bad Gastein and the stay at the Salzburger Hof.
We can nothing but recommend a visit here.

Strong warning for this hotel
For an upcoming trip this month we had booked 7 nights at this hotel, standard double room with half board. A few days ago I saw an offer to upgrade the room to a “comfort double room” for a small fee.
Said and done, I paid and received a confirmation that my upgrade was complete. On more careful examination, I discovered that half-board had been removed and replaced with breakfast! In order to get half board, the hotel demanded a surcharge on the price even though I had already paid for this.
I then asked for my “old” booking back but the hotel refused this.
My action was to cancel my booking and book a nice room at another hotel.
Hotel Salzburger Hof uses methods similar to fraud.

Classic but well-maintained!
Very classic but well-maintained! Actually exactly as one associates with Bad Gastein, but in a good way. The hotel embraces a lush, classic style, but the homework has clearly been done. Floors, furniture, rooms, and fixtures are well-maintained and up to date, with no signs of wear - one feels comfortable throughout. Anyone checking in here should definitely enjoy an evening drink at the hotel bar and spend a few relaxing hours in the wellness area with a panoramic view of the Gamskarkogel.

What a spring break!!!
Beautiful hotel in Belle Epoque style with great location for skiing. Great environment! ❄️
There is everything you could want. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. We got super breakfast every day and 5 courses in the evening, all week (included in half board). Pay extra for what you wish to drink with. Great food!
Access to the spa which was sometimes completely peaceful and sometimes full of happy families with children. Lovely anytime. There is an adult relaxation area if you want more peace and quiet. Fresh hotel with super professional staff - both reception, cleaning and restaurant. Extra ❤️ to our talented waiter…Alexandar.
Logistically easy to rent skis, buy a lift pass and get between the different ski resorts free of charge by bus. Let's go - but bring lots of nice memories and a dream of maybe sometime coming here in the summer for hiking in the beautiful Alps.

Golden Edge times 2, Christmas dinner trip and ski trip within a month
This is as good as it gets, after several visits to this hotel you are always happy when you get there. Nice rooms, good food, spa area, friendly staff who recognize guests returning. Was a fantastic week in many ways. Nicest weather imaginable and as I said just as nice as when we were here on a Christmas dinner trip in December 2025. Probably will be another trip in September but then for hiking. All trips arranged by talented and nice guides from STS.
