Heaven

Gorgeous room with balcony overlooking mountains. The room was clean. Only trouble the towels didnt smell fresh...So peaceful and beautiful. Helpful owners. Decent breaky continental was ok but omelette very good. Rented bikes from hotel and cycled to hallstatt. Just stunning. Will return one day.

Quiet, comfortable and spacious

The hosts, Heidi and Hubert were very friendly and welcoming. The apartment was spacious and very well equipped. We stayed for 3 nights but felt so at home we could've stayed a lot longer. The bedroom was large with a double bed, large bathroom with shower, kitchen/diner with cooker, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, dishwasher. There was a private terrace to sit out on and great views of the mountains. Plenty of room to park outside the property. There was also bike hire available at the property but we didn't have time for this. The five fingers cable car was in walking distance and there was also a bakery a 5 minute walk down the road. Impossible to fault this lovely properly.

Obertraun Stay

We really loved the stay at Appartmenthaus Simmer. The owners stay in the first floor. The 2 apartments for rent are in the ground floor. The Obertraun itself is a quiet lakeside location with all facilities nearby and each apartment is spacious with a living room, kitchen, bedroom & bathroom. The house has a backyard with a small pond. They rent bikes too. Its a perfect choice for those who plan to head to Hallstatt. Its 10 minutes drive to Hallstatt from the apartment. The host Mr. Hubert is very friendly. A memorable stay is guaranteed.

Amazing place

The hotel is very comfortable and the Hosts are extremely helpful and nice. It was a bit difficult to find the place and we had to drive arround for a while. Keep your eyes open for a bike rental sign in the front facade.... Maybe not such a permanent reference but it may help. More than a hotel, it´s like a private appartment. You get a fully equiped kitchen, living room, big dorm, comfortable bathroom and lots of space. There are boardgames, dish cleaning machine, and very nice decoration. Obertraun is a stunning sight and very close to Hallstatt, I would definitely recommend spendindg the night here if you plan on visiting the area, since it's cheaper than Hallstatt and still a beautiful place with lots of things to do. One thing to keep in mind: They don´t offer breakfast so make sure you take provitions with you (ideally from Hallstatt) to make good use of the great kitchen.

Quiet, Close by Hallstatt, Comfortable, Great Value

On our visit to Hallstatt we were looking for something that was a little more affordable than a hotel in town. We were traveling with another couple and we wanted to share a family style unit. We found it in Obertraun which is on the other side of the lake from Hallstatt and only about a 10 minute drive. The inn is located in a quaint little village with a small market, drug store, bakery and restaurant. The innkeeper has two units on the ground floor of their home which they rent out to families and couples. Our apartment had a master bedroom, full shared bath, fold out beds in the living room, kitchen, dining table, television and a nice patio deck facing a beautifully landscaped backyard with a stream running through it. Self serve coffee was provided and we parked in a guest spot directly in front of the house.
The innkeeper met us at the door and opened our apartment, answered our questions, and made recommendations for breakfast the next morning. The place is very well maintained and the owners are very friendly.
If you are looking for an alternative to the expensive hotels in Hallstatt, this is the place. I recommend it highly but you need to have your own transportation.
