Superb central hotel
Central Hotel in the old town, near main ski lift and all attractions of the town. Stayed half board food and service excellent, superb salad bar and enjoyed all the meals we had. Small bar which is very friendly and cosy. Rooms modern and very comfortable, despite central location, quiet at night. All staff friendly and attentive, thank you for a wonderful week, faultless.i

A delightful and special hotel
A delightful family run hotel. Spacious and comfortable rooms, very clean and with an excellent shower. Delicious and generous meals, half board is very good value. The rooftop spa an added bonus to end your day after skiing or walking in this beautiful area.

Excellent... Comfortable, clean, friendly, amazing food
This hotel ticked all the boxes. Comfortable rooms, food amazing, staff so friendly and a lovely spa too. Very close to Planai (5 minute walk). Great value too. Spacious twin bedroom. We travelled with Crystal which were also very good. Particular thanks to the hotel manager, Christian, who went out of his way to be friendly and chatty and was really helpful when we did need advice. I would definitely stay here again.

Has everything you need and more
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Neue Post. The rooms were comfy and had warm and powerful showers. The food was incredible with 4 courses for dinner each night and a full buffet breakfast and the staff were all really lovely and helpful. Perfect location for the ski slopes right in the centre of town. Cannot recommend enough.

Comfortable, friendly, centrally located hotel.
This is a comfortable, friendly, centrally located family hotel which is kept immaculately clean and tidy.
Located in the pedestrianised square, a few steps opposite an Intersport, it’s a 6 minute walk to the Planai gondola. although there’s a great heated ski room, we found after day two that carrying our skis back after a 40km ski day was just a bit much, so we hired a two person locker at the Planai, which was €9 per day. With careful packing, we got three sets of skis and boots, plus one helmet in. It was a blessing, especially when we discovered the side door right by the bus stops.
We had a two room “apartment” which had a very generous sized double room and a teeny tiny single room for our teen. Fantastic storage and we shared a bathroom which was ok, if not ideal. The bed was on the firm side but comfortable, and once we got some extra pillows, we slept very well. Our room was just across from the church, so beware the bells ring at 7 every morning, something our daughter was extremely grumpy about! Otherwise the room was very quiet, and very dark, which was brilliant. Although the room was excellent I’d have liked a socket by the mirror to dry my hair (great hairdryer provided in the bathroom, but with three sharing it wasn’t practical to hog the space), and I’d have liked a hook on the back of the bathroom door to hang the robe.
There are only two channels in English on the TV, Eurosport News and BBC news, so load your devices up if you want a quiet night in. Not a smart TV so no Netflix etc and not able to cast the iPad to the TV either.
There’s an excellent wellness centre on the fourth floor, so bring your swimming togs (bathrobes supplied via reception) and sliders as you won’t want to miss it - perfect after a hard day’s skiing.
The food was adequate, there was plenty of it but I think the hotel could up their game a little here. No hot options at breakfast apart from boiled eggs which were far too runny for me to eat. Good variety of bread, continental meats, tomatoes, cereals and tinned fruit with yoghurt, but very little fresh fruit. The toaster is perhaps the slowest in all of Austria, which was annoying, with a line of hungry skiers forming to toast their bread, only four slots in total. No earl grey tea bags so do bring your own if like me you’re a tea snob! Tea and coffee are not included with dinner which was disappointing and my husband was bereft that there was no afternoon tea. We had to go to a bar instead! There is a cute small bar at the hotel where you can buy tea or coffee at €3.50 (schnapps is the same price) and the bartender was so lovely and funny to us and our teen, thanks for looking after us! Good election of wine at around €28 a bottle, and Schladminger beer on tap. Fantastic range of drinks. The LATEST you could sit down for dinner was 7.30 and I’m not quite sure why, as we might have liked to do some night skiing and come back for dinner but this wasn’t possible.
Dinner was ok, a great salad bar to start with, always soup and then the main course. I would have liked to see more traditional Austrian dishes as they are so delicious (such as kaiserschmarrn and kaesespaetzle) but they did have grostl and schnitzel. No fresh veggies (frozen served one night but largely no veg at all with meals) and lots of boiled potatoes, but I suppose the salad bar made up for this. Puddings included apple strudel, chocolate cake, fruit and yoghurt and ice cream and berries. You won’t go hungry but you won’t rave about the food either, it’s good home cooking standard. Mountain restaurants are fantastic so we got our gastronomic kicks at lunch.
I can see why this hotel is popular, the location is excellent and the staff are lovely. If we ever come back to Schladming we will certainly consider coming back here, especially if they up their food game. Thank you for having us.
