First experience of Kissamos
Having recently come back from the new Ikos resort we weren’t disappointed.Fabulous lay out and the food/drinks are in another world.It is new and obviously we thought it would encounter a few hiccups along the way in its inaugural year.Though we never encountered these..However,we came across Alex Simonis (guest relations manager)and Thekla (F&B)manager,who have moved from Ikos Oceania who we remember from previous holidays there.They remembered us and treated us as family.From which Ikos to us is like returning to friends.They are truly the best ambassadors of the Ikos concept of luxury

Heaven in Crete
**Absolute heaven — we’ve already rebooked for 2027!**
We had the most beautiful stay at Ikos Kissamos. I had been a little concerned about booking this hotel before it opened, coupled with some of the negativity I’d seen in Facebook groups. However, I found any negative reviews to be completely unfounded.
The hotel is immaculate, the staff are wonderful, the food was some of the best I’ve ever had in any hotel, and it’s just a stunning place to be. There is also so much for kids and tweens to do.
The only issue, if I’m being completely honest, is some of the entitled and occasionally rude behaviour from other guests — but that is absolutely not an issue with the hotel or its staff. Manners go a long way, as they should!
I’d particularly like to credit our **AMAZING concierge, Vasilis**, who went out of his way to make our stay special and is the loveliest man too. Also Manuel, who welcomed us and stayed in touch throughout our stay.
At the Deluxe pools, **Ame and Isela** made sure we were always topped up with fizz and food. They were amazing — such a wonderful work ethic and attitude.
Food-wise, our favourite was **Azul — absolutely incredible**, and the manager there was so warm and welcoming too.
If I *had* to find fault, the cocktails are still a little bit of a work in progress — sometimes they were quite watery. But it’s a brand-new resort, and I’m sure everything will get better day by day.

Nice resort, not currently 5*
We have stayed at three other Ikos resorts over the past three summers and would rate every one of them 4.5 or 5 out of 5 (hence the reason we keep coming back).
This is our first visit here and it does not reach that standard. It opened in April, and I had assumed the early teething problems would have been sorted by now. They have not been.
Lots is right about the hotel. The rooms are decent, the grounds are lovely, and the food is good.
Service is the main issue. Drinks are slow to come once ordered, and you often wait a long time just to be asked. In one of the restaurants my meal was forgotten entirely; my family had finished eating before my food, which then had to be cooked from scratch, reached the table. One call out though for Iseal at the Deluxe Collection pool, who was excellent all week. If the rest of the resort ran the way she does, this would be a very different review.
We are staying in the Deluxe Collection, one benefit of which is unlimited restaurant reservations booked before arrival. It counts for less here than at the other Ikos resorts, because a large share of this property appears to be Deluxe Collection (more so than others from what I can see). Everyone is booking the same restaurants in advance, so despite booking early we have ended up with poor times for every dinner - perhaps I was too late booking but though I’d done it in plenty of time. A benefit sold as exclusive stops feeling like one when it applies to roughly half the guests…….
The bike hire is under-resourced and this is probably my biggest gripe. There are nowhere near enough bikes, and several of those “available” need repair. We are five days in and my youngest son has not managed to get one. My older son did get one (too big for him really but he made it work), only for it to be collected before his four-hour slot had ended, which we found out on walking out of a restaurant to find it gone.
Same issue with car hire. We have managed to get one for the end of our holiday, but hadn’t appreciated these needed to be booked in advance. In the other Ikos resorts we have stayed at, it’s always been easy to book the offered car at the resort with multiple days available.
The main buffet also does not open at lunchtime, which I have not come across before at Ikos. There are plenty of à la carte options and a much smaller buffet, but the choice is limited compared with what you would normally expect. With a fussy eater in the family, having plenty to choose from matters more than it might to others.
None of this is a disaster, and these are very much first world problems, but at this price you do not expect to feel short-changed. At around 70% of the cost this would be a 4.5. As it stands, three out of five, and I hope they get on top of the operational side, because everything they need to be excellent is already here.

Amazing holiday, especially the beach
Great place - the restaurants, the hotel itself and the beach was amazing
Didn’t spend any time at the pools which did look nice, but the beach was so nice and had a great atmosphere
The service was also great — everyone was so friendly and always wanting to help, especially the beach staff Barboura and Ionela who were particularly lovely.
Had an amazing holiday and would recommend!
