Great food and views

Family of 3 including a nearly 5 year old who stayed for one week in August.
Food - great. Good selection at the main buffet restaurant Lopia - different dishes each night, great salad bar and dessert selection. Our daughter loved the stuff on offer for kids. We stayed peak summer so the hotel was very busy and at breakfast there were queues at around 9.30 for a table. Food available at the snack bar (Street Food Hub) was also great with lots of choice for everyone.
Pool areas - loved these. Loads of sunbeds and no real sunbed hoggers. Some guests saw hotel staff removing towels as there are loads of signs saying please do not reserve. We came down to the pool about 10ish and could find some. Same for the beach. There were people who sat at the same bed each day but not as many as other holidays we’ve been on.
Beach - we loved this more than the pool area. The beach bar is close by and the facilities e.g. shower, tap for washing your feet are on hand too. Beach shoes a good idea for little ones as it’s stony sand. There are also water sports on offer that you can pay for.
Food again - we made two out of our three reservations at Matsi and Tsouka. Download the app and book as soon as you get there. Availability is limited but we managed two out of three. Nice to be waited on and have a quieter dinner.
Staff - lovely and helpful. The hotel is so busy and they do really try to make everyone’s stay as comfortable as possible.
Entertainment - we went to the kids show each night it was on as our daughter cultivated a busy social life with her new friends and we stayed for the shows afterwards. Really enjoyed these and there’s a bar nearby - always close to a bar at Ella Helea!
Room - had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We had a deluxe room with land view and it was quiet and peaceful with a view of the splash park!
Only reason we haven’t given 5 stars is the air con only goes down to 22 in the rooms and it was a bit hot at night until everyone was asleep and it had a chance to cool down. And the lifts were annoying - seem to have a mind of their own and are small! But all the other things mean we’ll forget about these two things and we’d definitely love to go back!

Beautiful Sea Views but More 4-Star Than 5-Star

The rooms were small, but for two adults and a 14-year-old, they were absolutely fine. We had a sea-view room, which I would say is a must if you stay at this hotel. You simply couldn’t fault the view — it was amazing.
The hotel is around a 30-minute taxi ride from the airport, which was ideal.
The hotel itself was very clean, and most of the staff were lovely. A special shout-out to Terence in the buffet, who was such a lovely man and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we were catered for.
Unfortunately, we did have one negative experience with a member of staff at the Street Food Hub. They were extremely rude, not just to our group but to other guests as well. It may be worth management having a conversation with this individual regarding their behaviour.
The evening entertainment was disappointing. We found that most people were simply sitting in the main bar playing Uno, so we spent most of our evenings at the beach bar, which had much more of a holiday atmosphere and was much more enjoyable in our opinion.
The buffet was probably our biggest issue. It was incredibly busy — honestly, like feeding time at the zoo! There were so many people trying to get food at the same time, with guests pushing in front of others. We also witnessed people picking food up with their fingers and then putting it back, which was particularly unpleasant and didn’t feel very hygienic.
The resort itself was also very busy and noisy, particularly around the reception area.
Around the pool, we found that you needed to be up early. We went down at around 7:30am each morning to make sure we got good sunbeds and then took turns within our group going for breakfast. The pool area was also very busy. The hotel was at high occupancy during our stay, and with only one main pool to accommodate so many guests, it often felt overcrowded
One of the biggest positives for us was having the beach within walking distance — definitely 10/10. The water sports were also great and something we really enjoyed.
The crepes at the beach bar were another big hit with all of us!
Overall, this is the third “luxury” 5-star resort we’ve stayed at, and unfortunately, I wouldn’t personally rate this one as a 5-star. For us, it felt more like a good 4-star resort. There were definitely some great positives, particularly the sea views, cleanliness, beach location and some of the staff, but the overcrowding, buffet experience and evening entertainment stopped it from feeling truly 5-star.
We would defo recommended the hotel if you don’t mind eating out a few times down the old town which we did tend to do.

Pleasant time had - nice clean hotel

My family and I spent 10 days here and had lovely time. The hotel itself is very clean and the staff were very professional and helpful. As all inclusives go, I thought the main buffet food and street food was very good. We did eat in three of the A La Carte restaurants - the Italian was the best out of the three. Wasn't too keen with the food in the other two (Latin American and Greek). The hotel is situated right on the beach which was excellent. The pools were good but I felt as more people arrived it became difficult to get a sun lounger unless you got up early! This is a regular problem in all hotels so unfortunately to be expected!
Be aware that when going to the buffet restaurant you do need to queue and the staff in the restaurant then take you to the table. This didn't really bother me as you were seated quite quickly. Drinks are brought to your table rather than you queuing up to get them. The cocktails are excellent!!
I think the only small negative for me is that the rooms are too small for 3 people. I went with my two teenage kids and it was a bit cramped in the room although when you book it does say it accommodates a maximum of 3. I took the view that we weren't going to be spending a lot of time in our room so we managed the limited space.
All in all it was a lovely hotel, maybe a little away from any towns, so be prepared to get a bus or taxi! But we had a lovely, relaxing break !

Overall great, few niggles…

We just returned from 8 nights and had a wonderful time! Only a couple of niggling things but overall a great experience!
Hot topic of sunbeds, we didn’t have an issue most days. One of our group was an early riser but you won’t struggle getting a sunbed before 9:30am, most were taken after this time.
Surroundings and inside the hotel resort weee lovely, clean and comfortable throughout.
The outdoor area was very slippery and we saw quite a few people slip over, adults and children and they were not even running/ walking fast. The water park opposite was a great hit with the kids but again, we saw so many injuries during our x3 visits, from people falling over, kids banging heads on the slides/ pool area to the top of the slides not being supervised by the lifeguards resulting in multiple children going down together and causing injury.
The main buffet restaurant was great, vast selection but didn’t change too much each day but done the job of feeding everyone, the snack pool bar was the biggest hit for us most days and it was super helpful having bottles of water on each bar point so we were able to grab quickly.
The queue for the terrace bar could get quite long as the bar staff was limited, if the queue got too long other staff would prompt you to sit down so they could take your order but this took even longer. On my last day a few of us were queuing patiently and a man just walked up to the front and ordered his drink without any regard of the queue behind him. I prompted the barman why are you serving his drink first when you know there is a queue and he just shrugged and didn’t really care which was frustrating.
The other thing to mention (as we did at the time) when dining in the à la carte restaurants, only the dishes with the tiny “AI” next to the dish is free, the others are chargeable. We were not told about this at the time and ordered x6 steak dishes which were 39euros each yet other main dishes of the same standard/ quality were “Ai” and “free”. We provided feedback that a supplement at least should be provided towards a “higher priced dish” and although we were happy to pay it was slightly misleading and to be honest really not work the 39euros as it was a 10-15eur steak at the top end served with 3 parsnip chips. The waiter agreed and understood and the manager came over, dismissed completely the feedback we were trying to provide and just said “dinner is on me” and practically shows us away… this became a common theme whenever you slightly had any form of criticism or feedback, was met with a slight form of dismissal like they didn’t want to hear.
Highly recommend the water sports and boats nearby to hire, we had a fantastic time of the sunset cruise. The live singers In the beach bar were also great. Heads up the taxi situation can be a nightmare , the front desk will book for you and hand you a ticket number but you have to keep checking if the trip has been accepted or not, that number reference isn’t a guarantee anything is coming, always wait outside aswell as others just steal your cabs, we saw it a few times. A taxi into the old town can cost around 15-20euros. Overall a great time, you won’t be dissatisfied
