Home from home for a magical week - thank you!
My wife and I decided to travel to Transylvania this year. We had heard from others of the beuaty of the countryside and wanted to explore some of the local towns and castles, and go on some walks. We went with our 3 children, all over the age of 16.
We had a fantastic time. The area is beautiful. There is a lot to do and the views and scenery is stunning. Brasov is a fantastic city to visit too - a 30 minute drive from Bran.
The main reason we had a fantastic time though was our experiences at Refugiul Domnitei. Our hosts could not have done more to make the holiday so relaxing. Recommendations on what to do (especially the walks) and where to eat (around Bran) were incredibly helpful, the garden is a great place to relax (play table tennis/pool), read or just sit and play some games while drinking a beer. We often went out in the morning and came back in the afternoon to relax before going out locally in the evening. I would also recommend the local restaurant Casa Thomas (only open Thursday-Sunday). If you like Italian food, you'll be in for a treat.
And each day started with a perfectly curated breakfast. It was a sumptuous affair complete with delicious fresh fruit, zacusa, cold meats and cheese, and eggs of some sort. It really sets you up for the day and don't need to eat until the evening.

An unforgettable New Year’s Eve experience – perfect for groups!
We spent New Year’s Eve 2025–2026 at Refugiul Domniței in Bran with a group of 17 friends, and it was truly one of the best accommodations we’ve ever experienced.
From the moment we arrived, the place felt more like a real home than a pension/guest house —warm, welcoming, and incredibly cozy. The indoor temperature was constantly around 23–25°C, which made a huge difference compared to the cold, impersonal feeling you often get in hotels or other places.
The breakfast was excellent, complete, and continuously replenished, and the food deserves special praise. The traditional, homemade dishes were absolutely outstanding and tasted completely different from restaurant food—authentic and made with care. We enjoyed stuffed cabbage rolls (sarmale), meatball soup (ciorbă de perișoare), cow belly soup (ciorbă de burtă), prok meat (ceafă de porc), a kettle dish we made ourselves (but also accompanied by the hosts wich made it better) plus an amazing New Year’s Eve dinner (appetizer, main dish, desert). Everything was delicious.
The pension is perfectly set up for groups with or without children:
-Plenty of board and group games (backgammon, chess, and more)
-Ping pong, billiards, dartboard
-TV area with more than 3 couches, ideal for cozy group movie nights
-A library full of books and movies, which you can actually choose and play on the TV (old-fashioned style, in the best way)
-A Bluetooth portable speaker with microphone, perfect for karaoke and private parties
-Barbecue area with two wood-fired grills, fire pit for campfire or kettle, electric stove
One huge plus: no restrictions on noise levels or party hours indoors, which made it ideal for celebrating New Year’s Eve without stress.
The hosts were exceptional—attentive, kind, and very discreet at the same time. Our common areas were cleaned more times along the day, breakfast and meals were prepared with care, and coffee, water, and tea were always available plus some bonus homemade cake, all without any extra costs. We always felt taken care of, without ever feeling watched or disturbed.
The rooms were spacious, very clean, and extremely comfortable, with quality bedding and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to relax after long days of activities. Everything was well maintained, quiet, and perfectly suited. Most of them also have balcony for great views along the mountains area.
Overall, Refugiul Domniței offers something rare: warmth, authenticity, freedom, and hospitality. It’s the perfect place for large groups, private celebrations, or anyone looking for a genuine, cozy experience in Bran.
The experience felt like we owned the place, to the point where it truly felt like our holiday home rather than a rented accommodation. This sense of comfort and freedom is something very rare to find.
The owners are also the hosts, and they are available anytime you need them, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and genuine care. They are friendly, discreet, and deeply involved in making sure everything runs flawlessly.
As long as you respect the place and the incredible amount of work they put into this business, you can trust that they will go above and beyond to offer you the best possible holiday experience.
We would return without hesitation and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special stay.

Perfect
We were lucky to find this location, where everything was extraordinary. From the delicious food to the comfortable accommodation and impeccable cleanliness, all the way to the extremely dedicated hosts who did everything possible to make us feel wonderful throughout our stay. A truly amazing experience, beyond expectations, which we wholeheartedly recommend!
