4/4 Birds would recommend

This place was the staging for our couples vacation. Let's start with the obvious: this place is located in a convenient middle ground between the urban space you need to stock up on whatever supplies you need and the destinations you want to visit. The lodging is as advertised: we found the rooms clean, tidy, well kept and the bathroom in good condition, clean and stocked up on the essentials. The hostess and staff were most gracious and accommodating and all our needs were met. As a nature lover I also must insist this place is a haven for several wonderful bird species and they seem to happily converge on the premises. The owners love and care for them, to me personally this is a big plus, but it's the cherry on the cake as we enjoyed our time here and we will come back

Unforgetable weekend... old reviews totaly out of date

Another unbelievable weekend I spent out of the city. This time I was throw away in time in Transylvania @ Knights Temple Castle. It was built in 13th century but they say in area there are Dacian tombs 2,000 years old. The castell is now a beautiful hotel with a very friendly stuff. If you are in Romania this is the place you should not miss. Good roads, close to Turda and Alba Iulia cities.

Timetravel!

This hotel is a former castle turn hotel. In betwen two Mountain, IT is a magic location witch offers áll you need for a travel back in time, when the world was ruled by knights and warriors. Including roleplaying, collection of medieval weapons, clothes, library. No cellphon signal, but powerful Wi-Fi în rooms.

Rustic, rustic Castel with Stunning, stunning views.

Enjoyed the stay. Rustic for sure. food was good Romanian style. If you like mid-evil castle atmosphere this is tremendous. Has all the feel of castle and isolation. A real true get-a-way. We stopped in the off season so we didn't expect much. This place is under construction and expect that. The road up is a gravel road but easily driveable. One lane only. The views and surroundings are stunning and if you are a hiker or back packer this is the ideal place. The two ladies running it are doing the best they can with what funds they are given. They were very nice and hospitable, attentive and courteous to us. My guess is their main source of revenue is business or family gatherings, not hotel revenue but foods and parties. It is well worth it you are in that market. May go again later this winter to enjoy the views and quietness and home cooked Romanian food.

Spectacular Setting and Nice Service Eclipses Any Shortcomings

Along with Carolyn, a friend and long-term American resident in Romania, I had lunch at te Castel on Monday 25 June. We were also shown around the property by the young manager.
We both had the classic Romanian grilled meat dish 'mitetei'. It can often be sub-standard but on this occasion the meat was delicious and well-cooked. Service was rapid despite two other parties needing attention. The young woman who served us was trilingual. She patiently fielded our questions about the establishment and admitted that money to improve the fixtures was currently hard to get. The rooms we were shown looked restful and comfortable. Overall, it seemed a very acceptable place to stay for tourists on a Romanian road trip. It evokes grandeur and the gorge under which it rests is simply stunning. I didn't stay but would happily try it out in the future as this un-explored part of Transylvania, in the Valisorei valley, is spectacularly beautiful. (Perhaps the problem is that the owners are not plugged into local political networks of the kind which enable European funds to be channelled into touristic initiaties).
