golf course a bit different especially when windy!
first visit and taking a breakaway from

booked though golf escapes/ jack!
ok have played lots of -courses - not one quite like this for a while
almería is desert as as expected fairways bone dry/ green true / bunkers consistent- however most holes have runoff / wasteland either side - not good- worth giving course a go!
restaurant food and staff excellent were all reception especially Fran and Beatrice !
stayed in 2 bed - comfortable and clean
the resort is remote - u need a car!

Relaxing stay.
A very peaceful and relaxing stay was had at Desert Springs. Lovely apartment facing the pool. Great golf course, restaurant and club house. The place is a bit remote and very quiet, its probably a mile from the main road up to the resort itself so a car is definitely recommended just to get about and visit nearby places. Overall, very good.

Desert Springs, or Deserted Springs?
Our first trip to Desert Springs will almost certainly be our last.
Four of us travelled for a golf and sunshine break. Starting with the golf, the course is challenging and, in places, very picturesque. Miss the fairway and you’re generally in sand or rocks, so accuracy is essential. It’s worth noting that work is currently taking place on two holes, and the 9th has been reduced to a short par 3 played from an artificial turf tee.
On our first day we got stuck behind a society group and the round took five and a half hours. On the second day we managed to get out early and completed it in four hours. The hire clubs were dated, and one of our group’s driver heads came off during a perfectly normal swing. Despite this, we were charged for the damage.
Our accommodation was a basic four-bedroom villa that had been won through an auction package. The villa was very dated, with uncomfortable beds, cheap mattresses and bedding, and pillows that felt almost disposable, like those you might receive on a business-class flight. It was adequate, but certainly not somewhere I would choose to stay again.
The resort itself appears to have very little management presence. Reception staff were generally unhelpful and, at times, outright rude. The on-site restaurant was equally disappointing. On our penultimate evening, while dining, staff were carrying tables and chairs above our heads as they prepared to close the venue for a private function. When our wine arrived, it was warm, as though it had been sitting in the sun. We asked for a replacement and were simply told there wasn’t any more before the waiter walked away. Service throughout the restaurant was poor. The food was acceptable, but nothing more.
We spent two days at the Crocodile Club, which was undoubtedly the highlight of the resort. The pool area is relaxing, and the daytime service is excellent. Unfortunately, when evening dining was moved from the clubhouse to the Crocodile Club on our final night, so too were the service issues. A bottle of wine was placed on the table and, when we asked for an ice bucket, we were told none were available despite having been given one there at lunch earlier the same day.
The resort is extremely remote, which may appeal to some visitors. However, without a car, everything is a considerable distance away and taxi fares quickly add up. There is no shop on site, no vending machines, and one evening at around 10pm, when we simply wanted to buy a bottle of water, both reception and the restaurant told us it wasn’t possible.
Overall, the resort can be quite picturesque and is certainly peaceful. There were rarely more than half a dozen people around the restaurants or pool areas. Unfortunately, the service and management standards rank among the worst I have experienced.
That said, a special mention should go to the young member of staff working on the golf course, who was excellent throughout, and to the lady behind the bar at the Crocodile Club during the day, who was equally fantastic. The rest of the staff, including reception, would benefit from some serious customer service training.

Fantastic stay at Glorious Springs over Easter
Fantastic stay at Desert Springs this April, such a treat to be there over the Easter weekend. Beautiful setting - the villa's are gorgeous to stay in.
Food and service at the club house was exceptional - wanted to try everything on the menu.
It really has got everything you need on site for families in terms of amenity offering.
Will definitely be back to stay in years to come.

Should be renamed “deserted springs”
We looked for the pool that was advertised - found a small pool at the crocodile club which was closed for the winter despite 25 degrees and sunny - no curtains in accommodation so when the sun came up so were you !
Whole handle and lock fell off patio door, no instruction for WiFi - the lodge had a wedding party so a la carte breakfast was replaced by Luke warm buffet - we were sent to the crocodile club for Saturday night due to the wedding - food was awful despite the helpful staff - golf was very slow with three sets of players on the hole waiting , no Marshall to control play - walked off after 11 holes 3 1/2 hours for two ball - would not recommend this place - no supermarket
