A historic and welcoming rural house, with the hospitality of the past
To escape the traffic of nearby San Sebastian, my wife and I chose a more secluded place, on the edge of the big city.
The choice was really lucky, because the Casa rural Irigoien turned out to be cozy, warm, comfortable and with two really nice and very kind owners.
The house is located on the outskirts of Lasarte-Oria, a small village of 18 thousand inhabitants in the Basque Country, with public transport that leads comfortably to San Sebastian.
The place is nice, towards the countryside, with small residential avenues leading you.
There are no problems for parking: the car leaves near the property, without any difficulty or danger.
The house is truly historic: Mrs. Rosa, the owner, told us that it is over 500 years old and that many wooden beams are still original: they are therefore the age of discovery of America, year after year!
How is Casa rural Irigoien? Well, very well. Hospitality is really what it used to be, present, friendly but never intrusive. It is a b&b, all in all, and therefore the owners live in the same structure. The house, however, is so big that it is practically impossible to meet someone, except by pure chance. Rosa and her husband, on the other hand, pop up when you need them and are both full of information, advice, tips.
The room we had was more than good! The bed was really spacious and the environment comfortable: we really enjoyed it.
Breakfast, included in the price, is simple but, for us, more than enough. Maybe because Italians, we didn't need many things: something sweet for my wife, something salty for me, coffee, tea, milk, bread, butter... I understand that maybe a vacationer from Northern Europe or America misses the eggs, but for us it was all very pleasant.
And, I repeat, the value for money we found was undoubtedly the most advantageous of our entire trip to the Basque Country!
!!! A small note on the connections with San Sebastian and the surrounding area is necessary, however, more to avoid problems for those arriving at the property.
The house is just a few minutes drive from the metro station leading to San Sebastian. If you plan to walk the road, keep in mind that it is 1 km, so 20 minutes walk... We must bear this in mind.
Near the station there are places to park for free, but they are obviously stormed by the locals. The easiest solution is paid parking: convenient but, in fact, paid.
Near the house there are no shops (except, in fact, 1 Km). There is a characteristic cider shop, but it is only open until 5 pm: in practice, if you want you can have lunch, but not dinner. Around there are excellent places but, in fact, you need to be equipped.

A great choice
In every sense excellent!!..A very restful place, very spacious and comfortable rooms and bathroom...The attention of Joe and Rose is fantastic!...It is a great option to be very close to San Sebastian without its fuss and problems driving with vehicle...It is a step away to reach the most ironic places of this beautiful city

You feel at home.
You feel at home. We were 7 people with children and everything was facilities. From the first moment Rosa and Jon make you feel like their house is yours. House clean, comfortable and ideally located. You have several cider shops nearby that allow you to finish the day of sightseeing dining like kings. Fully recommended!!!

Very good choice
We stayed one night and we were very comfortable. Very good treatment and kindness. Beautiful and very large room, very comfortable mattress. Complimentary water in the room that you find in few accommodations. We will be back

Excellent option to visit San Sebastián and surroundings. The hosts are very friendly, the rooms comfortable and very clean. Well connected by train to the center of San Sebastián and close to pretty and picturesque fishing villages.
