Mundo Albergue, my home in Santiago.

The best albergue: not expensive, close to the center, sheets and blankets, clean, good pilgrim atmosphere and above all, treasures from hospitaleros!
My stay in Santiago since 2015. You feel safe by the fireplace when the rain is pouring down outside again.

Worst impossible

The only good thing is the situation.
Facilities in parts fell apart. Very low-skilled staff had no knowledge of the facility.
In a word not recommended.
Price per night 24 € .

Lousy accommodation

The hostel is by far the dirtiest I've ever been to. Mosquitoes like lions. Dirty sheets. Showers with mold. Dismal state. The safety of the bunk beds was based on a bamboo pole fixed with insulating tape. I don't understand how you meet the requirements to stay open

Phenomenal

I have walked 7 caminos since 2016 and this is my favorite albergue without a doubt. The beds come with real linens and nice blankets not paper sheets commonly found in most albergues. The staff makes you feel like family. They have a fireplace to gather around in cooler months and a great covered deck and yard to enjoy in the warmer months. They installed two massive hot water tanks so showers are always hot plus they built a new separate bath/shower with quality finishes on the lower level. Breakfast is offered and is nice start to the day. The staff are amazing. I have never met such kind people who go out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. This albergue is outstanding. A special thank you to Jose Manuel, Antonio and Mercedes. They make everyone feel like family and you can tell they really love the work they do. This is a phenomenal place to stay run by people with hearts of gold.
I almost forgot.. the location is only two minutes from the cathedral and views from the upper bathrooms of the cathedral are breathtaking. The train station and bus station are nearby and Plaza Galicia is practically next around the corner.

Cozy and clean at the end of a long walk.

After 27 nights in albergues along the Camino Frances from Saint Jean, what a treat to arrive here. First, there is a common space with a modern kitchen, couches and a real fireplace they light in the evenings. The bunks are firm, memory foam mattresses with cozy cubbies that have individual lights, power plugs, a little shelf for a drink and your phone. The wifi connection is good all over and they pipe music in all the common areas including the wonderful showers. Each shower has an outer sealed area with hooks and a stool for your things. Everything is well thought out. There is a garden in the back with a place to sit. The location is minutes from the cathedral and situated to take advantage of a park, a very good market and all the old town has to offer. Thank you so much for a great stay.
