These sound cheesy sometimes but I love this place. The staff is the most helpful I have found and the place is very clean. It’s a nice relaxation point on any trip through.

A true gem!
The owners have done a wonderful job of preserving this old time motel! It's a classic! Clean, all updated, nicely landscaped, and they transformed 2 units to provide a lovely space for your included breakfast. We were visiting White Sands Natn Park, and this was a perfect place to stay the night. And, loved dinner at D.H. Lescombes Winery withing walking distance.

Horrible service.
I cannot recommend staying at White Sands Motel.
After a long day of traveling, my spouse and I were sound asleep when we were suddenly awakened in the middle of the night by loud knocking on our door. When I first looked through the peephole, I didn't see anyone and assumed it was a prank. The knocking continued, and even after looking through the window, I still couldn't see anyone. When I finally opened the door, I found Officer Chip hiding around the corner. Had he identified himself as a police officer from the beginning, I would have gladly opened the door immediately.
Officer Chip told me they had received a report that our room was being trashed and flooded. I asked if his body camera was on, and he showed me what appeared to be a phone-like device, stating that it was recording. I explained that the report was completely false. The door was wide open, and he could clearly see inside the room that nothing was damaged or flooded. We had literally just been asleep, and I had only thrown on a pair of shorts before answering the door.
Despite seeing that the allegation was obviously unfounded, he still insisted on coming inside to check the room. Although I knew I wasn't required to consent, I felt like refusing would only escalate the situation, so I asked for a minute so my wife could get dressed. He searched the room, found absolutely nothing, and then told me it was based on an anonymous complaint.
I told him that anyone can make a false report and that people's rights shouldn't be violated based solely on an anonymous allegation, especially when the facts clearly contradicted the complaint. I asked if he was going to check every other room as well. He said yes, but I highly doubt that happened.
At that point, my spouse and I decided we were no longer comfortable staying there. We packed our belongings and checked out immediately. Before we left, Officer Chip told us he had already spoken with the manager. When I spoke with the manager, he claimed someone had called saying the room was flooded and admitted they didn't know who made the report. Since we had just checked in, they assumed it was our room. While he apologized, it didn't feel sincere.
I honestly left feeling like we had been singled out and discriminated against. I even asked for my personal information sheet back since we were leaving, but after agreeing, the manager made a copy anyway, defeating the entire purpose.
To make matters worse, Officer Chip never provided a business card or case number, then had the audacity to try to shake my hand afterward.
Whether this was simply poor judgment or an inappropriate relationship between management and law enforcement, I don't know. What I do know is that this was one of the most uncomfortable hotel experiences I've ever had. Being awakened in the middle of the night, treated like a suspect without evidence, and made to feel unwelcome is unacceptable.
I will never stay here again, and I would strongly recommend others look elsewhere—even if this is your last-minute option.

Pleasant Motel Experience
Perfect spot to rest after a day at the White Sands National Monument. We reserved the two bedroom, three bed room. It was a great setup to give our teenager a chance to have some privacy on the long road trip as well as give my six foot husband room to stretch out in the double bed. The location is near many restaurants including a Thai place right next door, and a Wingstop across the street. The room was clean and comfortable. It is dated, but I wouldn't expect anything less from the motel experience and I think that it adds to the charm. The owners have added some positive details like a colorful shower curtain, a swing to enjoy the mountain view, and beautiful quaint landscaping. It will be our stop in the future if we pass that way again. It did have a continental breakfast that was served starting at 7a, but for the price, I didn't even expect that.
