5 stars, can't wait to go back!
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and it is our new go-to place. So walkable to all the great eats of Charleston and shopping. Coziest setup and the comfiest beds! Easy to pop on the interstate and head to Sullivans island from there too. Highly recommend!

Environment and active construction does impact one's stay
Only communication was via texting/calling, neighborhood was not what was illustrated in photos, the outside seating was not kept up and construction was everywhere impeding parking, communication, etc.,.

Detailed instructions are sent via messages and email, and we are always available to answer any additional questions by text or phone, depending on the guest’s preference, as was the case here. In addition, we have a dedicated on-site team, and we are available as needed.
Charleston is a very active and vibrant city, and at times there may be work in the neighborhood taking place as part of normal daily life during the week.
As in any active city on street parking is limited downtown; however, we are pleased to be able to offer every guest complimentary parking in our parking lot, with a reserved spaces exclusively for guests staying at The Charlestonian. Parking is available!

Wonderful stay
We spent 5 days at the Charlestonian and had a wonderful stay on the top floor unit. The apartment was beautifully decorated and the kitchen well stocked with appliances and utensils. Our children especially loved the big copper bathtub upstairs and playing the available board games out on the porch. All the beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms well stocked with towels, and a washer/dryer in the unit was a definite plus. Our hosts were very accommodating to any need we had. Parking was available across the street for a short walk. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE LOVED IT
Excellent hotel! Pristine, very well appointed and the most friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is very well planned and we loved the attention paid to every little detail.
Close enough to walk to the battery yet private enough to avoid the thongs of

Unique Charleston stay in a lively and hip neighborhood, close to King and historic district.
My husband and I rented our place at the Charlestonian so that we could attend the Charleston Food and Wine Festival, and extend our stay while working remotely over a two week period in order to immerse ourselves in the food and culture of Charleston.
We stayed at The Charlestonian’s Proprietors Penthouse, Unit C at 68 Cannon St, and we are just going to say —WOW! This property, for us, turned out to be in the best location and was such an incredible stay! It is in the Cannonborough/Elliotborough neighborhood about three blocks from King St, but yet in its own neighborhood with its own vibe and restaurants/ bars that we particularly enjoyed (Malagon, Chubby Fish, Tippling House, Vern’s). Well over half of our incredible dining experiences took place within a 10 minute walk around this neighborhood, including a must-eat-at restaurant right next door, Southbound (if you see Shane, the restaurant’s hospitality/beverage director during your stay, he might offer you a nice tour of the restaurant!)
Our contacts at the Charlestonian, George, the owner, and Randall one of the hospitality experts, kept in contact with us until check-in and gave us a warm welcome and great advice and recommendations on both Charleston and the neighborhood. George put so much thought into every detail of renovating and retaining the feel of this historic property while adding some modern touches. We truly appreciated the heart and soul of this place!
The apartment was appointed with amazing amenities too. The kitchen was a cook’s dream: La Cornue range, Mauviel Copper cookware, top knotch appliances both large and small. Although we are food and wine lovers and enjoy cooking at home, we did not plan on doing a ton of cooking in Charleston because we wanted to explore the diverse food scene. But the times we did cook, we had everything we could possibly need and then some! Although we had grocery shopped prior to arrival (can’t be without our coffee first thing in am), we were pleasantly surprised to see they had stocked the kitchen with coffee, filters, a French Press and a nice autodrip coffee machine. Plus, there are several neighborhood coffee shops to check out only a few blocks away (Baba’s and Holey City Bagel) and a lovely cafe (Ladles) in the basement of the building where you can get great soups/sandwiches and not even have to leave the block!
We had two bedrooms and each room had comfortable, classy beds/pillows and linens. We had another couple stay with us three nights of our two week adventure, and they said the same. Downstairs there is a bedroom with an adjoining bathroom and nice rain shower and upstairs, a master bedroom and bathroom appointed with a gorgeous copper soaking tub with shower attachment. So if you are staying with another couple, there is plenty of privacy with the bedrooms and bathrooms. There is also a cozy reading room upstairs and a small reading nook downstairs, both stocked with interesting books. Other nice amenities included ample supply of towels, toilet paper, shampoo/conditioner and body wash, and washer/dryer which got us through our stay. We were on the top floor of the property, which we liked, because the outdoor porch faces Cannon Street and gave us great visibility to watching the world go by first thing in the morning and again in the evening. Something to note: there is a narrow, spiral staircase to get up to the apartment so we would not recommend bringing your largest pieces of luggage, as managing a large piece takes some maneuvering.
We walked to The Battery down by the water, Cooper’s pedestrian bridge, French Quarter, City Market, pretty much all around the historic district, and walkable from this location if you like to walk—plenty of places to stop, rest and refuel if needed. Just make sure to bring comfortable walking shoes as uneven pavement/cobbles can toss you quickly! We recommend leaving the car parked at your spot at the Charlestonian and either walk (or ride share) as parking in Charleston is limited.
We would highly recommend staying with The Charlestonian and hope to return soon!
