Nice room but noisy
The Willow room had a comfortable bed and it is a decent size. The down side is that the windows face the main intersection so traffic noise is quite loud until late at night. Having breakfast at the inn is very handy but the options do not change. Keep this in mind if you are planning to stay more than a couple of nights. Letty provided excellent service in the breakfast room. The inn does do a pseudo turn down service in the evening but not much else in terms of housekeeping during the stay (at least that was my experience). There is plenty of parking available and the inn is walkable to lots of restaurants in Clayton. Black Rock Mountain State Park is 15 minutes away for anyone looking to do some hiking.

As for the Willow Room itself, it is located in the heart of downtown Clayton, which many guests love for the convenience and energy of being steps away from restaurants, shops, and local events. Because of that central location, there can occasionally be some street activity, particularly on busy weekends. We do note this in the room description so guests can choose the atmosphere that best suits their preferences.
Regarding breakfast, we are actually known for offering a fairly extensive made-to-order menu rather than a rotating preset meal. Each morning guests may choose from multiple first-course options including yogurt, parfaits, seasonal fruit, and oatmeal, followed by a variety of hot breakfast selections such as eggs cooked to order, quiche, home fries or grits, bacon or sausage, waffles, homemade coffee cake, toast, English muffins, and gluten-free options. We intentionally designed the menu to provide variety and flexibility throughout a guest’s stay.
We also wanted to clarify the housekeeping comment for future readers. We absolutely do provide full housekeeping service during stays unless a Do Not Disturb sign is displayed, which in this case prevented our staff from entering the room. We always want to respect our guests’ privacy and preferences.
Finally, our evening turndown service includes refreshed accommodations along with locally sourced chocolates from one of our favorite regional artisans, which we hope adds a thoughtful touch to the guest experience.
We truly appreciate your visit and are happy you were able to enjoy Clayton, Black Rock Mountain, and the charm of the inn during your stay.

Great hotel that makes you feel special.
It is a lovely hotel with wonderful amenities. This is our second time to stay here and I would recommend it highly to friends.

Cozy & Friendly Every Time
This inn has become our go-to getaway when we need to refresh and unplug. From the moment you enter, the huge fireplace and cozy space feel like a hug. We have stayed here several times and will continue to come back! We always stay in the Hemlock suite because we love the fireplace and the little seat in front of it- it's perfect for a rainy afternoon nap! The rooms are always clean and cozy with everything we need to relax. The wine and cheese hour in the afternoon is something we always look forward to. We usually sit in the bar area and play a board game while we unwind and enjoy. But one of our favorite things is the breakfast! So good! The service is always amazing from everyone we've interacted with, whether on site, at breakfast or via email leading up to our trip. The location is great, too- right downtown and within walking distance of shopping, restaurants and coffee shops. We recommend The White Birch Inn to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

Great Getaway
We stayed in the Persimmon Room that had two queen beds. The decor and location were exceptional. Close to everything and great amenities. We will definately be back!

Great time, great people.
From check in to good bye, the service was top notch. Great communication about the arrival process. The property tour was very helpful and welcoming. We stayed in the Hemlock Suite and loved it. The only little issue is the traffic outside, don’t plan on sleeping in. The decor was well thought out, and very warm.

Many guests love the energy and charm of being right in the heart of town, though we completely understand that lighter sleepers may prefer one of our quieter suites.
