NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE. WHAT HAPPENED!?

I asked for a refund 40-minutes after checking in.
The front desk was nice about a refund and wanted to accommodate me but couldn’t because I booked through a third party. I would have to deal with them directly or take the charge. More on that later.
I would normally have sucked it up rather than lose one hundred dollars or make a fuss, at least the sheets and towels were clean, and the guy at the desk was nice. But my discomfort grew by the minute. It was that bad.
I called my credit card company and asked to dispute the charge and left.
This once was a good place. Our company used it for overnight business on a regular basis, and I have fond memories of the Crazy Horse (which looks long-time vacant).
Someone needs to love this place again or mow it down. More importantly, someone should take down the photos that make it look like it’s still a nice place to stay. If you don’t look at reviews, you will be highly disappointed.
Note that I didn’t catch the third-party charge (an additional $25) because the sponsored link reads “Redlionhotelmonterey-guestreservations” and I stupidly thought that it was the Red Lion Website. After that, the confirmation email came from "The Red Lion Hotel" (the domain was hotelsone.com). I didn't catch that either, and I only printed the first page of the confirmation with the hotel charge, the third-party charge is well below at the bottom on page two. Lesson learned.
I’m hoping my credit card company will help with a refund.

The photos are better than in person. The property probably needs a remodel. The pool looked nothing like the photos. It was so dirty and not kept up to standards that we couldn’t even use it. The only good thing was that the staff were really nice and helpful.

Room was adequate other than they didn’t supply enough towels, no washcloths or hand towels or a bath mat. Sink was way too tall for an average person and faucet was loose. Bedding was clean and comfortable. Location was sketchy and hot tub apparently hasn’t worked for some time. Homeless people hanging around the gas station next door made us uncomfortable parking there.

Rooms were Dusty they did not have 2 beds rooms so I have to get one with a sofa bed but no blackest I went to the office waited about 45 minutes to get help but they did not have clean blankets to Offer so they move me to another room were the bathroom had Mold

Breakfast was danishes, coffee and cuties for first breakfast. Second breakfast was the same plus yogurt, minus the fruit. Paint was peeling in the shower. The curtains were ripped and the pull rod to close the curtain was broken. The heater vent was full of dust and some trash. I was not able to use it because of the smell. The room and property looked nothing like the pictures except for the headboard and the desk. It looked like the company started a remodel then stopped halfway through. The whole place looks like its falling apart. Very disappointed. The front desk attendant at check in was great!
