The perfect place to stay in Natchez, Mississippi!
I can’t begin to say how lovely staying at Monmouth Inn was. The staff was all lovely and definitely displayed the southern hospitality I love. I stayed in one of the gardening cottages and absolutely loved it. Nicely decorated in period decor, clean and comfortable. I couldn’t have asked for more. The grounds were basically a large garden with beautiful statues and fountains throughout. Included with our stay was a tour of the mansion, which was fun and informative. I also loved the breakfast in the morning. Evenings found us having dinner in the dining room room and it was one of the best ribeyes I’ve had in a long time! I also enjoyed winding down at the end of the day in the lounge with a drink and dessert. Everyone at the manor was so very friendly and accommodating. If I returned to matches, I will definitely stay here again.

Filthy, Unremarkable and Disappointing
Filthy room; it hadn’t been cleaned. I’m not a germaphobe but how difficult is giving a room a good cleaning? We tried contacting the front desk but never received any communication.
There was some type of residue on the bedside tables (looked like black hair) and on one of the pillow shams had either blood or makeup streaks on it.
The blinds on the door were broken and caked in grime. The floors were sticky and in the bathroom the floor felt like it was going to cave in.
Although the main house is historic, the outbuildings are not. There was a note on the fireplace that said it was not working (not classy at all) and another note advising what not to do using the remote for the television.
Monmouth needs to reevaluate its guests’ visits; it is not an experience I would ever repeat. There are enough historic inns located in Natchez; find one and don’t waste your money on Monmouth.

It was a great stay. The suite was clean, large and very comfortable with a wonderful porch for relaxing in the afternoon and early evening. The staff was very welcoming and helpful in answering any questions. The air-conditioning in my room worked great as it was very humid outside. The breakfast and its location was just an extra amenity to a great trip. I also enjoyed the restaurant for a nice relaxed dinner.

The room was clean and adequate but that's about all. Minimal seating in room which was not comfortable. I was never able to get the room to a comfortable temperature at night. Door did not seal leaving gaps around the edges of the door in multiple locations. Grounds needed much work. Multiple areas were large limbs had fallen and not been picked up. Grass needed cutting a week ago but I can understand that due the amount of rain that we've had. My wife and I have an evening meal at the restaurant in the Inn. Both were excellent -- a bit pricey -- but excellent.

Faded B&B Inn a little bit short on hospitality.
Monmouth has a nice restaurant and gardens. My room was upstairs and was clean. Floors creaked, so it felt like a haunted house. Not a bad room experience. I’ve stayed B&B in Natchez since the 1980s with mostly positive reviews. I had not stayed at Monmouth, so a decent rate was offered through USAA Perks. I was surprised with the $76.93 “tax” for my two-night stay. Tax is 7% sales plus 3% tourism plus $2 per night. Upon check-in I found out that the additional amount included an $18.95 + tax surcharge fee for breakfast each day and a potential 10 a.m. tour. Breakfast was fine, but the Gratuity Appreciated sign surprised me. I really was not prepared with cash for leaving something. To have a member of the wait staff call me out on it was unpleasant. I had planned to ask the front desk to add something for them to my bill. She also called out other guests for their impatience in the staff’s service which I felt inappropriate. Guess the waitress thought she could treat me (and the others) this way because I (we) wouldn’t come back. She was correct. I won’t be staying at Monmouth again and plan to decline any invitation from any of my friends wishing to dine here. True Southern Hospitality still exists in Natchez, just not in Monmouth’s breakfast dining room.
