We love this place

Agate Beach has been our go to spot for a few years now. The view is stunning. The rooms/baby houses really/ are so charming but most of all the staff are amazing. Whenever we book they always put us in our favorite spot without question. We have since moved to New Mexico but have work and family here. If we are visiting PDX we always make sure we have a weekend at the Agate Beach Motel. We will always come here. We can drive anywhere else we want to be on the coast for the day.

It wasn't for me. That's fine.

I can tell that this is someone's labor of love, but it's certainly not the #1 hotel in Newport. We stayed in #6, at $275 per night. The whole building has settled to one side, so it was a funhouse experience for sure. It's dog-friendly and next to the ocean, so the carpet is a little sticky. The linens were clean enough. Bring your own blackout curtains. The kitchen was great. Oven and stove were on the new side, and it has everything you need to cook a good meal. The bed was decent, but not the best. And then...the bathroom. Hmmmm. I don't want to gross anyone out here, but the toilet has walls around it that restrict movement. I'm pretty big, but certainly not the largest person out there. Ladies, if you're larger than like a size 16, you're going to have a bad time doing your business here. Anyhow, this is a hotel that caters to surfers—the beach access is A+ and I know some people are going to love staying here. It wasn't for me. That's fine.

Relaxing Retreat

We stayed at the Agate Beach Motel for 4 days 3 nights in mid May. We were in #1 which was on the end and had a beautiful view from the room. It was a nice size with a full kitchen. Very comfortable bed in bedroom. Only complaints are bed squeaked and the toilet area is very tight. Overall it was very affordable, great experience. Very helpful staff. We would come back.

Beautiful place to stay in Newport

We love this place! We try to visit every year. Each room comes with beautiful views, friendly people, and a quiet location. It is a good value as well. Agate Beach motel has truly become one of our happy places.

Was quiet and secluded with a great view.

Overall positive; an older place with a lot of positives, mostly seclusion and away from highway/city noise. There were a few things that could be improved - eg. there was no heat in bedroom, so it was rather cold. TV setup was not very user friendly. But overall still positive and a nice change of pace from a multi-story hotel or resort.
