Overall 8/10 stay, really was only there to sleep, but hotel was clean, the water pressure in the shower is a little weak, but it was nice and hot.

$250/night For Poor Room Conditions and Even Worse Customer Service
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to warn other travelers to avoid staying here. I booked this property through Expedia for about $250 per night, expecting accommodations that matched the listing. Instead, I found a room (#308) with multiple maintenance issues, including a large gap under the exterior door that allowed rainwater to flood into the room, a TV that didn't work, rusted/stained lampshades, & other signs of poor upkeep and safety issues. I reported these issues to the front desk immediately and after initially being rudely dismissed by a woman who said "I don't control the weather" I was eventually told someone would address the issues. When I returned that evening, nothing had been done. The floor was even wetter from additional rain, and the office was closed, leaving no one available to help. After my stay, I submitted photos to Expedia. They attempted multiple times to contact the property, but the property never responded, preventing any meaningful resolution. Maintenance issues can happen anywhere. What matters is how they're handled. In this case, my concerns were ignored during my stay, and Expedia's attempts to contact the property afterward also went unanswered. No customer should be ignored for asking for the minimum expectation. If management is genuinely committed to improving the guest experience, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my stay with them. Until then, I cannot recommend this property based on my experience.

Avoid the Anchorage Inn
I rarely leave negative reviews. Other travelers should be warned. We visited the motel on July 4th weekend. We should have left when we told the officer that the straw chairs in the room were wet. They stated that the maids had to wash the mold off of them. By day 2 the room was slimy with mold growing on the dresser and the tv. The office stated that you have to keep the AC on 63 to keep the moisture down, which didn't help. The staff especially the man was rude and useless. We told them as we left that was the grossest hotel we had ever stayed in. The lady at the office had no comment. Also, the microwave outlet wires were hanging out of the wall. We will never be going back there.

We stayed one night at The Anchorage as we were passing through Ocracoke heading for Hatteras Island. We’ve stayed on Ocracoke a number of times in the past but never at The Anchorage. We chose to stay where we did this time based on the pool as my daughter is addicted to swimming right now. And the pool did not disappoint! The view, from the pool, of Silver Lake is second to none on the island! The deck was clean, there was plenty of seating. No complaints! The room was generally clean and comfortable as well. The location of our room wasn’t ideal, but that’s an “it is what it is” thing. There were some aspects of the property that were pretty warn out—doors/locks/windows/light fixtures were all just kind of used up. Not really a complaint as I can’t even begin to imagine the nightmare that upkeep must be between the ocean air, the strong storms, and the constant wear and tear of guests.
All of that to say, we’d have no problem staying again when we’re passing through.
