Authentic, delicious and friendly cooking experience

We booked a two hour cookery class with the Spice Lodge. We are a family of four with two teenage boys. Irosha and her mum were very welcoming and explained and demonstrated everything very clearly. We made five curries (vegetarian which is what we asked for) using traditional methods. There was more than enough of the delicious food which we ate overlooking the valley. Would thoroughly recommend and an experience we will never forget.

Perfect, clean, cool and a wonderful location and view!

We stayed here for 2 nights and our host Kamal was super helpful and friendly. The lodge is located along the path leading up to Little Adams Peak and not far from the path to check out the Nine Arch Bridge. We could easily catch a tuktuk into the town centre from the lane at the base of the stairs leading up the Spice Lodge. Breakfast was fresh and lovely.
Great views from a lovely sitting area out the front of your room. Bed is king size and very comfortable. Fridge in room is handy for keeping drinks cool. We found we didn’t miss not having a/c - it is cooler in Ella. The fan in room is more than adequate.
Highly recommend this place!

Everything you need!

Great location surrounded by greenery and close to the main attraction; easy access to excursions to the Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adam’s Peak.

Great accommodation in fantastic location

Sensational accommodation in perfect location in Aguram Bay. Large and comfortable rooms with beautiful and private garden areas. Great pool and awesome breakfast and restaurant. Highly recommended.

Nice accommodation, very nice host

This accommodation consists of 2 double rooms, each with a very nice terrace and a great view of the valley and the opposite mountain range. Kamal the host is very friendly, helpful (and also speaks a few words German). Spice Lodge has been around since 2016 and offers a great breakfast at room rate, which is taken on the terrace - so the day can start.
The lodge is ideally located between 9-Arch-Bridge (20min walk away) and Little Adams Peak (45min), also in the city center (main street of Ella) it is only 15min walk.
There is also a cooking class organized by Kamal's sister.
Super was the free transfer from Kamal with his tuk-tuk to the bus stop about 1.5 km away, from which we continued.
The only point deduction for this accommodation: the Wi-Fi is very weak despite 100% rash (German apps won't start, WhatsApp works on the other hand), the accommodation could do with a new paint job and minor repairs in the bathroom, the room is not 100% clean / dust).
Nevertheless as a conclusion: absult recommended accommodation, great hosts, we felt very comfortable here, you can relax wonderfully.
