Staff
My family and I had a fantastic time at Dickwella Beach Hotel. The staff were all friendly and hospitable. Thilina especially amazed us with his infusion cocktails. They were not only creative but tasted incredible, using his expertise knowledge to provide the perfect drink suggestions. Overall, it is a special place and I would highly recommend it as a place to get away and relax.

A lovely hotel with the beach at your doorstep. Nice.and quiet, great food and drinks. The rooms are spacious and clean and good value for money.

Miss-sold - tired dirty rooms with a dog that bites!
Positives: Location is amazing also the food is great too (when it eventually arrived!)
Negatives:
Rooms - very tired, old furniture with doors hanging off. Linen threadbare. The bathroom smelt of sewage in which their fix was to burn incense sticks! The toilet was held together with tape and a worm creature was crawling out from under the toilet and floor (this is no joke, vile!)
Dog Bites - Lots of dogs living at the hotel. They have a puppy which they leave roaming around and bites someone every day. We constantly complained about the dog and it nipping the children and then it bit so bad it drew blood on my sons hand. We ended up in hospital along with 3 other people from the hotel that single day. They still refused to lock the dog away and said the hotel was a home stay and the dog lived their too!!
Service - SUPER SLOW. Asked at the bar one day for a drink and was told to wait while the bar staff was swimming - come back in 20 mins!! WOW
I feel miss-sold considering the star rating and price of the hotel. My advice steer clear!

Total change of scenery
We returned from 2 weeks spent at the Kappa Club Dickwella located between 2 superb and huge beaches. It is an ideal place to spend a pleasant stay. The staff is at the top at all levels, always smiling.The animation team is very caring for you and very competent, always available, it offers you very interesting outings to discover the south of SRI LANKA, it is a soothing country. Many thanks to Alexander, Lucia and Leo you are at the top, it was a real pleasure.

Am I 100% disappointed...
The first holiday at this hotel was in March 2024. Would we be thrilled - the beaches on both sides of the hotel are calm, clean and free of waves, the rooms are excellent, the service is also on level 4. And when they decided once again where to go on vacation in March 2026, no doubt they chose the Dickwella Hotel again. But, alas, in the two years we've been gone, things have gone awry. And even somehow it is a shame that the hotel owners don't even think about the fact that the condition of the room stock and service should be kept under constant review.
1) The condition of the room (we currently stay in room 35) leaves much to be desired. The shabby furniture, in the bathroom everything is on the honest word, the mirrors are already swollen, the plumbing is covered in rust, the tiles are covered in lime and in uakih then incomprehensible stains.
2) In the wall room everything is cracked, the bathroom door does not close, at the front door when closed there is a good shelf on top, you can close the bathroom door only from the inside.
3) Room cleaning is also in question, yesterday brought towels out of the required 5pcs brought only 3. And if you're hoping that a robe and slippers have been prepared in your room, like a normal four-star hotel, then alas I want to disappoint you, they won't be there.
4) And it won't be in a room of Russian channels on TV. We stopped at the hotel on March 18, 2026, and to date, graciously in response to our complaint about the lack of Russian channels, the TV in Russian did not speak. True, the master comes to our room every day with a smart view, then the console will take and return the same one, then the remotes will take and bring back, but the problem is still not solved. And the Internet and WiFi are not working consistently at all. You can't watch the sleep movies coming with them.
We were impressed by the past arrival and wonderful holidays this hotel was recommended to all friends and family. But alas, after the current stay in this hotel, I wouldn't even advise the enemy. All the more so now new hotels with excellent infrastructure were opening in Sri Lanka. And I wouldn't want to be remembered for an unkind word later, who we recommended to the hotel. All of this was very overshadowed by the holidays. It's where you live for another five days.
On the positive side, I can highlight the chef of the restaurant. That's who cares about the customers is him. He goes out every day and wonders if we liked it. And if any of the guests are unhappy with the dish, they will immediately cook you a dish personally from the chef, just so you don't stay hungry.
I'll also note the tour guides. On March 22, we went on a river safari, our guide was always with us, worried that we would be happy with the trip. And as a nice bonus to our entire group on his own, he presented a coconut cocktail.
And in conclusion, I'd like to tuck in - the hotel is a nice four-star hotel, maximum 3ka with a huge stretch. Will I recommend the hotel now - of course not....
