Excellent stay

Would recommend to anyone travelling to ella.
Balcony has a view of the ella rock and ravana fall plus can see the train.
Walking distance to ella junction towards the 9 arch bridge.
Walking distance to ella railway station
Very cozy service ....if a walking traveller be ready to climb a short but steep road when coming to the place

great view but basic overall setup

Read the mixed reviews before we arrived and was a bit scared and unsure if we booked the right place.
The view is definitely is pretty awesome in particular in the morning and evening. The rooms were pretty basic but clean e.g. no AC, safety box, fridge. The breakfast was basic but ok. The staff was polite and helpful.
It’s basically a large homestay, not more. For that its ok’ish.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

his was absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There was no hot water, the walls had mould and the owner was rude. The beds were damp, there was in air circulation. Anything left in the room smelt off. We had to wash all of our clothes when we got to our next location.
We asked him to order us a tuk tuk for a 6:00 a.m. train. He said it was not possible. Our friends staying elsewhere booked us a tuk tuk through their hotel. Appalling service and poor state of the room. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Thank you for choosing Mount Blue View Guest Inn for your stay in Ella. We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations.
You needed a tuk tuk at 5.50 AM but we cannot find a tuk tuk from 3 minutes. Then we showed you a short way to go to the railway station as soon as possible. After that, you were rude to our staff members. That must be the reason for all FALSE ALLEGATIONS.
We do our best to keep rooms in the best condition. Then there cannot be any kind of mold. Your reservation was room only. It means breakfast is not included in the reservation. There were 10 guests in our hotel that day. but NONE OF THEM HAD A PROBLEM with hot water or air circulation. If you informed our staff regarding this, they could help you.

Felt like a lovely homestay

Quiet hotel that felt a bit more like a homestay! The room was basic but clean – no A/C and only a wall mounted fan (which was good enough – in Ella you’re quite high up so the nights are cooler than elsewhere, so we coped well with the fan). The doors didn’t completely close so we were grateful for the mosquito net hung around the bed. The room had no safe or minifridge either, but for the price we paid, we really couldn’t complain. The hotel is about 5 min walk to the main street of Kandy where there are several restaurants and shops. The toad is very steep and not lit up at night so do make sure your phone battery is charged so you can use the torch! Think there must have been about 7 rooms, all with a huge balcony terrace overlooking a wonderful view of the Ella Gap. I got up early to sit out on the terrace and watch the scenery slowly lighten and the train go from Ella to Kandy (you can see the train go quite close to the hotel, and then reappear several minutes later going over a bridge – it gives you an iconic photo of the greenery of Ella, complete with Ella gap and one of Sri Lankan’s iconic blue trains! Check the train times first and remember that the trains in the area are often late). Breakfast was provided to us on the terrace; fresh fruit, omelette, toast and tea! More than adequate for a day’s exploring.

Great View

View was spectacular, and the staff were so friendly. My partner and I stayed for 2 nights, in a clean spacious room with a fan.
We had our breakfast sat outside each morning overlooking the view.
The location was great, as it was away from the main strip away from the loud noises from the restaurants and bars. Quite easy to walk to Ella Rock from the accommodation as well.
Overall great stay!
