A very relaxing stay with plenty of bird life and easy access to the local beach

We stayed 3 nights here in a clean, smart upstairs room with a substantial balcony. We loved the quiet location by a lagoon. From the restaurant we enjoyed watching (for some hours!) a huge range of water birds. The long, sandy beach (dangerous for bathing) is a 10 minute easy walk away. Our friendly host, Nimie, was very welcoming and cooked a range of good evening meals for us.

A little paradise

A real little paradise. The welcome is very warm, meals and breakfasts are plentiful and excellent. What a pleasure to watch birds on the lake. We loved staying at Eagles Nest Cabanas. We enjoyed the quiet of this place.

Great place, lovely family, unforgettable experience

Superb experience in this warm, accessible, smiling family.
Accommodation first: very clean and comfortable rooms (Air conditioning, mosquito net) with private terrace overlooking the garden with swimming pool and the lagoon behind (dry season)
Family: very friendly, everyone speaks English except grandparents and their 8 year old child does not hesitate to converse with you too. We were able to help them cook a good rice & curry, great experience and they were a great help for transport, advice of things to visit nearby.
The place: away from the tumult of Tangalle, you will stay in the middle of the jungle facing a lagoon that contains a rich fauna (chameleons, varrans, peacocks, monkeys, squirrels...) and the garden of this family is exceptional with many tropical plants. A 5min walk from a deserted beach but where it can be dangerous to swim, it shelters turtle eggs that come to lay eggs at night.

Dream hotel with wellness guarantee

Super nice hotel, cozy clean rooms, large balcony with great views, restaurant right on the lagoon with countless birds, beautiful clean pool, warm hosts - and all at a great price! We would have loved to stay longer!

A must! Book to avoid disappointment.

My family enjoyed an amazing stay and wish we had booked longer!
The Guesthouse is family run and they are so warm and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was the best.
Rooms - 2 double beds in our room. Great for a family of 4. Hot shower and had everything we needed.
Food - we ate dinner and breakfast here and we were not disappointed. Huge portions. We definitely did not go hungry! Reasonably priced too.
Location - quite remote. On the edge of a Lagoon and a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest beach.
Plenty of wildlife can be seen from the grounds. Lots of bird life. Peacocks included!
Would fully recommend staying here when visiting Sri Lanka. A great base for watching the turtles on the beach. You can also kayak nearby too. There is also a swimming pool.
We would definitely would go back and stay when in Sri Lanka again.
