Rest in paradise ★★
We spent a memorable week at the Hideaway Lodge and it was as if we were transported to a different world where time was passing slowly. The area is sunk in greenery: there are palm trees, tropical flowers and birdsong from morning to evening. Waranas, peacocks and chipmunks live in the territory. Everything is designed for your comfort: rooms are clean, finished with natural materials.
Our room overlooked the lagoon. We woke up to the noise of foliage and birds chirping. In the evening, we sat on the veranda listening to the cicadas. It's a feeling of complete privacy. The beach is only 300 metres through the jungle, where you can find a family of monkeys. The grounds are a swanky swimming pool where we spent every morning waiting for breakfast. The staff is very attentive: greets with a smile, helps with any questions. Separately I want to thank the hotel owner for his friendly and pleasant interaction in the evenings.
Hideaway Lodge has given us the feeling of staying with good friends on an island of paradise. We will definitely come back!❤️

Fabulous hideaway for travelers seeking peace
The hotel lies next to a lagoon and is truly a hideaway from the outside world. Here you can find peace and relax from traveling. It’s close to the beach in walking distance and not too far away from Tangalle. The owners are super friendly and helpful with any wish or advice you would like to get if you wanted to take a day trip to destinations close by for example the Yala Nationalpark. The staff is really friendly too which makes you feel welcome at all times. The food is very delicious, it’s freshly cooked and particularly in combination with the view (the restaurant is situated on a platform at the lagoon) an absolute paradise to relax. I can highly recommend to stay here.

The most memorable trip to Sri Lanka
It was the best decision I've made in a year. A beautiful remote hotel from the bustle of the city. I was fascinated by the beauty of the surroundings and the abundance of the inhabitants, only in the area we saw: parrots and many different birds, a huge varan, a snake, a peacock, a turtle, monkeys, marmots and incredible size fish in the lake. The road to the ocean is 5-10 minutes, the ocean is quite restless, but if you walk you can find breakwaters.
Room: everything is great, we bought the tour without air conditioning, but was in our room and worked perfectly, so there was a comfortable sleep, no mosquitoes, the area is small, but they arrange it, the gazebo where they ate - very atmospheric, the food is all delicious (not spicy at all) and cooked right away, not heated. The staff are very friendly, cleaning on demand or they've asked themselves. There are two cute dogs on the property, be sure to treat them and scratch their tummy.
I don't know when, but we'll be back.

The most soulful rest
Just got back from this hotel today. Holidaying with his wife. Unbelievable! We're thrilled! A very beautiful, picturesque place! Lived in room number 1, overlooking a wonderful lagoon, around a thicket, birds, animals. Room is nice clean, bed is large comfortable, hot shower, refrigerator, air conditioning, safe, wifi on site and in the room. They're building a swimming pool. Very friendly, polite staff, all requests are responded to instantly. The feeling that you are relaxing at your grandmother's in the village) To the beach, where you can swim you need to walk for 15 minutes, on the way will definitely meet iguana or monkeys. Absolutely incredible beauty beach!

Hidden paradise - and still on the pulse of the island. Chill and discover.
Hideaway Lodge near Tangalle is located on a beautiful lagoon surrounded by nature. The beautiful and easily accessible beach is not crowded and still offers some small bars and restaurants if you don't want to eat or drink at Hideaway Lodge. The rooms are very spacious and well equipped, the air conditioning was quiet. No car noise, just hearing the ocean and the birds ... that must be paradise. Guests are allowed to use the pool of a nearby hotel.
Our personal highlight of Hideaway Lodge are:
+ The natural and very well-kept grounds with the raised, covered terrace (“deck”) where you can sit, eat, drink, chill at any time of day or night, but above all watch the lagoon and its animals. It can hardly be more comfortable and close to nature. Relax watching countless birds and warblers while having a relaxed breakfast or enjoying a drink or dinner. And the peacock is always in sight. A paradise, not just for ornithologists!
+ the kitchen. It's the madness what you get there delicious. The food and drink menu is great and contains many local specialities. We once stocked up on an exotic fish during a day trip to the market that we really wanted to try. But it was not on any menu. We just let the Hideaway Lodge know and they bought it for us and prepared it perfectly. And we were even allowed to watch the preparation! A hard-to-top treat! Also otherwise, the Manju team is very responsive to the culinary wishes of the guests, which we noticed especially at breakfast. “You can’t? There isn’t, at least not with a bit of lead!”
+ If you are also there and are offered a massage. Do it! The sound of waves, the gentle sounds of seabirds and peacocks and the hands of the masseuse who understands her craft and makes her own massage oil (Ayurveda!) are an unforgettable experience.
+ Manju and his team are very welcoming and helpful without being intrusive even once. If you want, you can talk to the nice team very well and get deep insights into the culture and current affairs of the country. In addition, you are very well supported if you have an individual concern. For example, I was booked a hairdressing appointment in Tangalle. (necessary to try – is an adventure in itself!). If you don’t want all this, it’s no problem, you get your peace and relaxation.
It is a surprise that this gem seems to be an insider tip. On the other hand, neither, because it is fortunately a bit remote and you have – if you want – your peace. Nevertheless, the team can take you by TukTuk to Tangalle e.g. to the market or bus station for very little money and (importantly!) put you on the right bus. Super practical e.g. for a day trip on your own to Galle. But everywhere else on the south coast you can be driven if you don't have a driver anyway. One is by no means cut off from the outside world. If you're looking for a big anonymous hotel where you can get pizza, party and pool 24/7, then you've come to the wrong place! Please go somewhere else. For those looking for authentic, clean, quality, friendly and nature-oriented accommodation with a first-class team: Congratulations, you can stop searching!
