Good for a night's stay before catching train to Ella

After traveling all day from Habanara to Kandy, we chose to stay in Kadugannawa to make it easier to get seats on the train to Ella in the morning.
Unlike other towns, there were no tuk-tuk drivers waiting at the train station to help us. So we walked around town ourselves looking for somewhere to stay.
We only found two guesthouses for about the same price. This guesthouse was much newer and smarter than the other option where we would have needed two rooms for our family of 5. Here at Dawson Bungalow the host was very sweet and put up an extra bed for us.
The room was huge and newly decorated but there was no hot water, the wifi didn't work, there were loads of ants in the bathroom (something that happens a lot in Sri Lanka so we always carried fly spray) and, to make things worse, at 11pm a huge group of people congregated in the communal area outside our room to have their dinner.
Still, it was just 100 metres from the railway station which was helpful for meeting an early train and our host knocked on our door in the morning to make sure we didn't miss it. He was very friendly and very kind which made up for some of the inconveniences we experienced.
Our trick of catching the train from Kadugannawa worked a charm. Getting on such a packed train was a little unnerving but by the time we got to Kandy, we had secured seats for the rest of the journey. Our 8-hour train ride unreserved in 2nd class cost just 910 LRK ($8 NZD) for all five of us.

Nice place with nice service

We were ended up there dramatically. Because of our previous place had rented for someone else we had to find a place at late night (day before our trip to kadugannawa). The care taker MR. Saman is a very nice person and we talked about the details via phone and he reserved us couple of rooms and saved the day. We arrived there around 2.00 pm and they welcome us warmly. Not a big place but nice and comfy. they have 5 or 6 rooms (double and triple with and without AC). Triple room is the best. It has a mini fridge, and large beds and dialog tv connection. All the rooms have attached bathrooms and hot water is also there.
Food was good but you have to order them bit early since they don't have their restaurant in some other place (Place is under construction and they planing to build a pool and a restaurant)
There are number of historical places around the bungalow. Mostly around 5 to 7 kilo meters. Dawson tower and railway museum were in front of the bungalow.
We had dinner and breakfast there and we also had a barbecue. Barbecue price is bit high comparing to other places because they are using a gas barbecue machine.
We had fired rice and some additional curries from them and all of them were tasty and price is really good. Service is really good and friendly.

very nice place with great location

very nice place to stay in sri lanka , location is perfect in kandy .there is a lot "must see "places , staff is very nice and pleasant, everything is very clean , very tasty food and the views are amazing . place is very beautyfool , near mountains and wild nature. I definitely recommend this place to travelers who would like to be near nature and have good place to eat and just have good time :) really perfect experience ❤️❤️

My Good Experience in Sri Lanka

Calm Place to stay, Friendly and helpful staff. So beautiful natural view, a lot of tasty foods, this hotel near to the mountain so we can climbed it. i would like back to this hotel for my next vacation

relaxing hotel with grate view and excellent serves ..

We stayed only two night but it was wonderful.The rooms are really nice and very clean. Food is amazing. Staff is very friendly and there is a real sense of professionalism.The view the surrounding countryside was spectacular.. We would definitely go back there and highly recommend it!
