Excellent

Stayed here while waiting for flights, excellent service, lovely rooms and very attentive staff. Kids enjoyed the pool. I would recommend. The flights at night didn't disturb us at all. overall a good small hotel to stay at even went out and sourced us a bottle of wine 5* treatment

Very good hotel for an overnight stay before or after a flight, but breakfast preferred somewhere else.

First, something basic: We quickly realized in Sri Lanka that it makes sense to rate our booked hotels from home only when we really have a good comparison. For some hotels, however, it is unclear to us even retrospectively how some reviews and rankings come about – both positive and negative. Perhaps it's often because guests rate them as a kind of overall judgement and don't distinguish between friendliness, helpfulness, cleanliness or comfort. We're doing this. A service can indeed be absolutely friendly and yet the hotel can have shortcomings in cleanliness, or vice versa be super comfortable and still be run little courteous.
So here is our honest and nuanced review of the Ceylanro Transit Villa:
A good hotel for an overnight stay before or after the flight! Rooms are spotlessly clean, large enough and ideal for transit. The modern bathroom with hot water is a plus, as this is not standard everywhere in Sri Lanka. The warm welcome with welcome drink and cold towels was particularly pleasant – a great gesture after a long journey. The airport can be reached in a short time, and the transfer is even included in the room rate. However, you should not plan too close, as the driver sometimes takes ten minutes longer. The option to pay by credit card is also convenient. A pool for cooling off is also available, even if we did not use it.
A clear minus is the restaurant. While the rooms are extremely clean, the hygiene in the dining area leaves something to be desired. Tables were not wiped before setting, the cutlery was partly not clean or not rinsed at all (see photos), and many ants ran through the dining area, also directly along the table on the window frame. Here it would be desirable that the same care is taken as in the rooms.
In addition, it must be mentioned that the airport has no night flight ban and the hotel is in the inbound flight path, which of course makes a quiet night impossible. To make it a bit bearable, earplugs are available in the room.

Fantastic find

Fantastic little find, 5 mins from airport, very comfortable rooms, fantastic food , even take away breakie at 5 in morning , very good prices and a free lift to airport, what more could you ask for and wonderful staff 5 all round from us, 100% stay here if overnight stop needed for airport
