Nice stay at Weligama Bay Resort

I was at the Weligama Bay resort last week with my family - my children and my senior citizen parents. Our stay was very good. We loved the vibe of the resort. It is not very big though. I was initially allotted the bungalow but i got it changed to the rooms in the building. I liked the rooms better but it's a personal choice. The bungalows were not as cool as the rooms and after a hot summer day, i wanted a cool room.
The pool is good. the beach access is great. The rooms and the overall resort were clean.
My only concern was the breakfast spread. It was minimal and there were same options every day. I would have liked more variety and a lavish spread. Being vegetarians, it was a tad bit boring to have the same thing every day.
The ala carte menu was fine and so was the bar. The drinks at the bar were nice.
Special mention for the beach access. It was wide and had chairs where one could sit for a long time.
The staff at the resort is good and attentive. They were always ready to help.
Overall, we had a good time.

Good location but average hospitality and service

Resort is placed at very beautiful location with a great view and beach access.
But service and hospitality made it very average experience for us.
-Rooms were not so equipped and prepared when we checked in , Room Phone were missing , no dustbins were there
-Upon asking dental kits , they refused that they don't have even I was ready for paying they were unable to arrange one (even 1/2 Star offers dental kits)
-Food have limited options and even Vegetarian options are almost limited , in breakfast buffet also.
Overall hospitality,staff communicatuon and service is very poor. Apart from view nothing is worthy for this resort to spend on.

Spacious Suites with large bathrooms which could be better managed

We booked this hotel located right on Weligama Sea Beach, just adjacent to Marriott Bay Hotel. We booked a family suite for four of us by paying full advance rent for one night as last minute offer. The rooms are spacious for four persons. Bathroom is as big as the rooms. All the necessary items were provided in the room and all the rooms are road side view only. Being off season the resort did not provide Buffet breakfast and they served Ala-carte in the restaurant. As we were vegetarian this was disappointing for us. Though we had informed earlier and the Chef promised us to give Parotha but when we reached for the breakfast at 0930 hrs, the Parothas were finished. The Buffet has been discontinued by the management but the same is not informed to the guests at the time of booking. Guest families coming on vacations look forward to best of the facilities and food in the resorts and any cut down becomes an eyesore of the stay. I advised the Manager to inform the guests in future so that they can take a call while booking the resort accommodation.
The bathrooms are too large with separate toilet and wash room with two wash basins. However there are no doors in the toilet and washroom after entering the Bathroom. So purpose of separation is defeated as only one person from the family can use the bathroom at one time.
Management can think of adding doors and a health faucet in the toilet.

The Junior Suite is wonderful. Hubby and I on our 30 year anniversary trip and this was our last stop of a 14 day trip touring the whole Sri Lankan Island. Weligama is a stunning spot and the stay was high class with a family feel.

Great Location

We stayed here for 4 days for my birthday. It has a Great location.
The staff is just amazing. Always smiling and making you comfortable.
The food was good too.
