Very soothing and relaxing
The hotel is very nice and has a great view from the beach you can even see sea turtles if your lucky and the hotel rooms were nice and cool with wifi and cooling by far one of the best stays I had.

Nice Villa
Clean nice villa with friendly staff. Would stay here again. The dinner and breakfast were nicely done. They were accommodating of our requests when it came to young children and did their best to ensure our comfort. The property is facing the ocean on a nice quiet strip of beach. Swimming directly in front isn't the best due to corals and rocks, however there are decent swimming areas nearby.

location...
a 10min tuk tuk ride away from the main beach lies seachange. a basic little place whose charm lies in its beach front location. you can hear the waves in your rook and whilst you havd the yummy sri lankan or continental breakfast on their veranda. a 30second walk takes you to a small enclosed reef where you can see juvenile butterfly fish, angel fish, tangs,gobies and crabs. you dont even need to snorkel, just stand on the rocks, dip your feet in the sea and watch...
down side - no room service, food is a tuk tuk ride away and rooms have no TV.

Perfect for a Quiet Few Days by the Beach.
We spent 3 days here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are of a good standard. The small well-maintained garden opens onto the beach in front. The beach is not ideal for swimming as there is a reef around 25 metres out which creates a small shallow lagoon. This is ideal if you just want to paddle or float in shallow water. We would have preferred a more "Sri Lankan" style breakfast and did indeed have Dhal & Puttu on our last day. This is not to everyone's taste but we enjoyed it. It would be good if Nihal and his team made it clearer in advance what would be on offer at breakfast. A simple Breakfast Menu with "choices" would be helpful. We would have no issue with pre-ordering the Sri Lankan breakfast the day before if necessary. One slight negative, was that some fellow European guests decided to invite some friends around (who were staying elsewhere) and they took over the facilities completely. It put Nihal and his staff in a tricky predicament that could easily have been avoided by some written "House Rules" contained in an information pack including details of nearby places of interest. Sadly, no such pack exists at present. This is a good place to stay and we recommend it.

Best place in all of Talpe
There aren’t enough good things that I can stay about our stay at SeaChange.
Some background on us:
3 Friends in our early 30s in town for a beach stay getaway in Sri Lanka who required basic but clean accommodation on the beach, and close enough to bars and restaurants for us to chill at in the evening.
The property:
A 2 story b&b with 8 rooms that looks unassuming from the road. You walk to the back veranda which opens out onto a small lawn and further to a palm grove over sand with steps down to the beach. At a glance, it’s heaven. Very comfy sun loungers and swinging hammocks dot the sand under the shade of the palms. A small watch tower gives you an elevated chill out point to watch the waves crash onto the beach. Just down the steps you have a tiny protected reef pool that is lovely for a paddle away from the intimidating surf just beyond. Occasionally you’ll run into a smiling visitor on a walk collecting shells, or even better, a crowd of local children who will, in less than 2 minutes, devour an entire bag of gummy bears with ear to ear grins on their faces.
The breakfast and dinner (upon request, and seriously you are missing out if you don’t) is served at the veranda, where you can meet the incredible staff who prepare the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. Always with a smile, and always beyond attentive. We had the pleasure of seeing pictures of their families, hearing their stories, and laughing with them every morning and evening.
We stayed in a double room with a small bed in the back section on the ground floor. In all of my experiences traveling in Sri Lanka and India, I have to say that this was one of the most comfortable mattresses I’ve experienced. Not too hard, not too soft. Basic, but totally does the job. A ceiling fan was enough to keep us cool, though the room also had AC. It was great being on the ground floor as you could walk straight out to breakfast and the beach. Bathrooms were clean and basic, and good water pressure when the pump is switched on.
The Experience:
We stayed over Christmas and New Year, and were only supposed to be there for the first leg of our trip. Our second hotel messaged that they had accidentally overbooked and that they could not accommodate us. I spoke with the owner of SeaChange (Nihal) and he immediately offered to take us to neighboring properties to see if we could sort something out that was available. Once he saw how disappointed we were, and after some small begging to let us stay longer, he was able to shift a few bookings around to make sure we weren’t homeless on New Years Eve! We really felt like he cared so much.
Every time we came in from a party or an excursion, even if it was at 5 in the morning, someone was always there to greet us and make sure that we were well, safe and most importantly that we had a good time.
We walked in expecting to stay at a hotel, and we walked out with a new Sri Lankan family. I have traveled all over the world, and can say I never ever felt such care and attention. We felt like or trip was even more special because we met Nihal and the boys working at SeaChange. We cannot wait to return, and certainly will recommend the place to everyone we know!
