Discovered a Bijou

We were invited to a Confirmation in Gampel/Steg and arrived the Saturday before from Basel! Already arrived at noon, the wife of the boss warmly welcomed us! Very friendly she explained to us that the room is already ready to move into and already gave us the key! The room was very appealing, clean and had a wonderful terrace!
In the evening we decide to eat at the restaurant Du Pont! The half-board menu consisted of three courses for CHF 39.00!
Here is still cooked with heart and passion and the service was excellent! Very attentive, but not intrusive!
If we visit our friends in the future, we will definitely check back here!
Highly recommended! We wish you every success!

Excellent central location for skiing or hiking

Central location to ski in different resorts, which we did in Lauchernalp, Jeisinen (10 minute walk to the mini-cable car from the hotel) and Unterbäch.
The hotel is clean with very comfortable beds and bedding, a spacious bathroom, and well-insulated. Although it is right off the main road that leads to the lötschberg tunnel, it was extremely quiet. Good, basic Swiss breakfast with müsli, fresh bread, yoghurt & charcuterie. Nothing fancy but just right! I’d definitely stay here again!!
There are several restaurants within a five-minute walk. Beware of and avoid the cozy-looking Bar Mineur across the street street! Strangely enough, they allow a “fumoir” in public places in the Valais. I live in Switzerland and have never seen this elsewhere. There are apparently rules but they are clearly not applied! The whole cafe reeked to high heaven of smoke!

Hotel wins through the nice people

I booked only for one night because I wanted to travel to Ticino next day. Checkin was nice and there was a parking possibility before the hotel. New TV in the room, furniture and bathroom a little bit like the 80th. Breakfast in the morning was normal, lunchroom was huge and a litte bit sterile, like the bathroom :-)

Meine unvergessliche Geburtstagsfeier mit Freunden im Hotel du Pont in Steg.

Die Zimmer waren sehr schön eingerichtet, Fenster waren 3-fach Verglasung, grosse Terrasse. Der Chef, der Koch und das Team waren hervorragend. Die Bushaltestelle "Bäckerei" war vis à vis. Einige min. bis zur Coop und Migros. Bis nach Zermatt ist es genau 1 Std. 45 Min.
Ein Besuch lohnt sich auf jedenfall.

Einfaches und sauberes Hotel

Hotel und Restaurant seit 1.12.2022 unter neuer Führung. Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Kleines Frühstücksbuffet aber alles dabei vom Joghurt bis zum frischen Käse. Sehr freundliche Bedienung und sehr bemüht, dass sich der Gast wohlfühlt.
