Decent and comfortable room in a very good location close to the main Walking Street, although the hotel is not very new and modern. Walking distance to the city's major attractions and hiking trails. Good option if you don't expect luxury. A little difficult to find and the hotel staff is not always available at the reception.

I am glad I booked this place despite reading the negative comments. The stairs to the Homestay is actually quite easy to find and is very close to Daitian Temple’s bus stop. The view was amazing. There are two sets of stairs that goes down, but one of them is steep. My brother struggled to carry his luggage up and down the steps, so I did it for him. I didn’t find the stairs that difficult even with luggage, but some people do; Anywhere in Juifen has stairs.
We got a room with a view of the ocean and the sea. I needed a retreat, so this was perfect for me. The best view that is within walking distance to the old street and public buses. Plus, the kite museum was huge and cool to see. I hope I get to stay there again.

Due to a delayed flight, we arrived late at the property.
But the person in charge did not care and worse, closed the gate without instructions when we were actively exchanging emails.
The place is not well maintained, and you must carry your luggage up multiple staircases.
I am just thankful that we stayed only one night

Good location. Ok view from the room. It is difficult to find it, should be better marked.

Cleanliness - 4/5. The room was clean. What I saw from a few other reviews about this hotel that rated it low for cleanliness was in regards to complaints about the maintenance of the room. Yes, there were some areas of the room that required attention, like re-grouting the bathroom or fixing some wall paper and paint on the walls. However, these things do not make the room dirty. There were no dirty marks and there was no dust in the room. The eating could be 5/5 if those aesthetic issues were fixed but I believe the complaints of other guests about the room to be unwarranted.
Location - The location is excellent, only a short walk to the old street and the view from the property speaks for itself.
Service - The owner was very friendly and explained everything to us clearly. He provided us with a tour of the museum and he was very knowledgeable. He helped us with everything we needed, such as providinh us with an additional towel.
Amenities - There is a water fountain for both hot and cold water for use by all guests. In the room there are some tea bags and cups too. The hotel also provided us with toothbrushes and toothpaste.
