The Best Marriott I've Visited So Far
Located a short distance from central Taipei in Zhongshan District, the hotel sits in a newer high-rise neighborhood that perfectly balances seclusion and convenience—quiet and family-oriented yet lively, right beside a train/MRT station and major shopping centers. It offers a refreshing taste of contemporary Taiwan without the intensity of Xinyi District, and the short distance to Xinyi keeps everything accessible.
Location
At 199 Lequn 2nd Road, the property benefits from excellent walkability to nearby shopping and dining, with the surrounding area providing pleasant strolls that highlight modern urban Taiwan. The well-maintained, busy-yet-calm vibe made it my favorite district for Taipei stays, delivering the best of both tranquility and activity.
Arrival and Property
The arrival experience set a high tone: friendly doormen promptly took our luggage and escorted us through a fast, seamless check-in. When my Brilliant Suite wasn’t quite ready, staff directed me to the 19th-floor executive lounge, where stunning city views provided an ideal waiting spot. The lounge sits conveniently next to the fitness center, allowing me an excellent workout with Technogym equipment while my room was prepared. Though I didn’t use the spa or pool this time, both are on the upper levels with promising skyline views.
Room
The Brilliant Suite was gorgeous—spacious and modern with high ceilings, minimalist elegance, thoughtful lighting, and lovely city views. It created a genuinely luxurious and comfortable environment that made for a wonderful stay.
Dining
Breakfast required an additional charge (not included as an elite benefit). The selection and quality at Garden Kitchen were superb, featuring fresh and flavorful dishes. The Hundred-layer Tofu Salad stood out as a particular favorite. While the offerings differ from the Regent’s gold-standard breakfast, they remain excellent and highly enjoyable depending on personal taste.
Service and Ambience
Service was consistently solid and attentive. The hotel’s overall ambience feels modern and elegant, highlighted by the lobby’s impressive arches, soaring ceilings, and tasteful mix of light green tones with warm wood elements.
Verdict
The Taipei Marriott Hotel excels with strong hardware, thoughtful wellness facilities, quality dining, and reliable service in a location that perfectly suits those wanting a mix of peace and proximity to city conveniences. It’s an easy choice over more central but busier districts, and at a great price. I look forward to returning—ideally with time to enjoy the spa. Highly recommended.

Horrible experience
Customer service is not part of this Marriott's DNA. The Grand Sheraton in Taipei is a better choice.

Acceptable,not excellent
The services was acceptable only within in this brand, not excellent.
The staffs in the reception area were not proactive even they were free and they could see we are looking for the elevator.

Good 5 star hotel.
Good hotel in line with many other Marriot hotels in the world; nothing more and nothing less. Of course, in my view, I don't understand the generosity of Forbes who gave this hotel a 4-star rating. Like the Sukhothai in Bangkok or the Taj in Mumbai. Except that the Sukhothai or Taj deserve at least 7 stars in comparison to the Marriot in Taipei.
There is little else to say because the rooms are pleasant, with very large beds and this for me is very appreciable, but nothing to glimpse that qualitative leap towards true luxury. Same thing for common areas; beautiful but where is luxury? Symptomatic, in my opinion, of the level of the hotel, is the reception area where the hotel management has decided to install curtain columns to manage the queue of waiting customers. Never, never seen in a luxury hotel! Suitable for an airport, a post office but never a luxury hotel. I ask the management and the hotel to have them removed immediately. They are in a bad taste unacceptable for a high standard hotel. But they define well this hotel that in my opinion remains a good hotel, 5 stars certainly, but not luxury and at this point I wonder what the Forbes reviewers go to test. Have they ever really seen luxury hotels around the world? The collection of art objects inside the hotel is very nice; some objects are really wonderful.
Breakfast in the morning served in a pleasant setting, but again, not everything is perfect. For example the questionable quality of some products while the quantity of the offer is in line with a hotel of this level. While, even in this case, I cannot accept paper towels. Dear Marriot hotel in Taipei in a luxury hotel the napkins must be exclusively cotton. There are no shortcuts.
But then, just as I was in the breakfast room, I turned around to see the other hotel guests and realized. Men in tank tops with shorts, another, sitting opposite wearing a baseball cap the whole time, others with sneakers or flip flops. And that's when I realized that these kind of customers don't care if the napkins are paper or cotton. I would be surprised if they used them. And basically the real problem is always the same: the clientele. The more the clientele that frequents luxury hotels lowers in level and the more, these same hotels, lower in level in turn. There is nothing to do. Some heroic hotels resist this rampage of the “barbaric customer”, such as the Mandarin in Bangkok or the Oberoi or Taj in India, but they are misunderstood “heroes” destined to become extinct.
As for the location it is certainly not in the center and therefore you have to choose this hotel knowing that to reach the city center will take about 20 minutes by taxi. Service, in general, good and level.

Ticks all the boxes for me
This hotel ticks all the boxes for me. A fairly large and comfortable room, friendly and service minded staff, excellent breakfast, a well equipped gym and a lovely 25 m rooftop pool. What is not to like?
