Trang visit
This is our 5th stop here, and no complaints from us.
I note a review here from a lady from Seattle who's used to staying at Hilton's or Hyatt's or the Shangri-la. I too stay at those hotels on occasion and can certainly recommend the Shangri-la in Bangkok, but the Rimnatee isnt a 5* hotel, it's a budget hotel, and it needn't and shouldn't be judged by those standards.
The Rimnatee is a charming and we'll designed hotel with parking alongside the spacious bungalow rooms. While it isn't far from a main road it is quiet and yes, you do require transportation to get into Trang, or to the restaurants.
The rooms are a good size, clean and tidy. And the towels clean and well laundered. There is indeed a towel each, but if you need more you can ask. If you are staying more than a day then the towels are replaced each day. Our last stay was 4 days and this I recall.vAs for ants, we haven't come across any, but they are here. And if I do find them I don't blame the staff. They are ubiquitous.
I recommend anyone, and certainly anyone with children to stay here. You won't regret it
The staff are lovely, and helpful. I don't speak Thai. But I try, and they'll speak English easily.
As for breakfast. I've had better, but it's sufficient: cereals, eggs and chicken sausages etc. Toast and fruit, coffee and tea.
The swimming pool is great. There aren't too many budget hotels with pools so put that down as a plus

Very good price with lovely pool
Stay over for one night only, but I feel that it is value added as we stayed in the pool access room which is designed comfortably. The room is still very new with essential amenities like soap, shampoo, towels. Only one point to improve is many small ants around in breakfast area and in the toilet though no food is left in the toilet sink..
However, I still think it is well worth a stay.

Lots of little annoyances in every category imaginable
Terrible location and TONS of little annoyances that seem to come from poor and thoughtless management.
If you decide to stay here, make sure you aren't a woman with the audacity to wear a bikini or you will be fined 500 bhat (yes, really). There are several signs reinforcing this. It's fine for men to expose their belly, of course.
Wifi kicks you off every 30 minutes to ask for the login/password and the connection is never terribly strong.
You will only get one towel (mine was stained) per person, no hand towels, and there is no towel rack aside from one above the toilet far away from the sink and shower. The sink has no counter space to put things on. Huge closet with only one hanger (what is the point?). No tea or coffee. Outlets only on one side of the bed. The bed is hard. There is a desk, but no chair. Long list of items in the room and how much you will be charged if they go missing (including a handful of things that were never in the room to begin with). There was an ant problem.
The breakfast is a horrifying runny egg with depressing chicken sausage and ham - they plate it all at 7am, so unless you get there bright and early, yours will be cold. They have congee, toast, and fried rice that are perfectly adequate though. The coffee machine was broken during our stay. The cooked to order menu items were good.
The star of the show - the infinity pool - doesn't have steps to get in (only randomly placed benches) and during our stay there was an unconnected hose floating inside and pushed off to the side. Every kid in the universe will be in the pool and there are just a few upright chairs to sit in around it.
Staff did NOT have any of the magical Thai hospitality the country is famous for - a few were very accommodating, but most simply did not know how to interact with guests. I believe this is also a managerial problem.
Check out includes being held hostage while a specific person inspects the room to determine whether you will get your cash deposit back. It's ridiculous and a waste of time to require a 300 bhat deposit in fear that a guest may steal a (dirty) towel. Any significant damage would be way over 300 bhat.
I am surprised that people praise this "new" hotel, considering our room already had cracks in the walls, paint damage, water damage in the ceilings, the bathroom window was falling apart, and all of the balcony and pool chairs looked like they had been used for many years without repair. None of these things would have been a big deal if I hadn't read so many rave reviews about it being brand new. The room did manage to have good mood lighting and the ac worked fine.
Due to the poor staff and the laundry list of annoyances, I would not recommend this place or stay again.

December visit to Trang
We drove from Penang to Krabi and have decided to stop by at Trang for one night stay. This is just a small resort with nice pool especially for kids. We took a 'house' here because we wanna have our own parking lot and 2 big bedroom for my family. You can shop for groceries at nearby Robinson Mall. It's very convenient.

Clean, comfortable, good for families
Had two nights here and found the place very clean and efficient. The pool was great and there was a quaint little coffee shop there. Staff were friendly, the breakfast average, and plenty of parking. The only downside is that it is a way out of town and you need your own vehicle as there is nothing in the area around the hotel.
