Amazing hotel and staff

The location is great, the place is very clean and the owners and staff are very friendly and helpful!
It was the city and hotel I liked the most in Thailand!

A great hotel tremendous value

I want to start off first by saying I'm not involved with this hotel in any way shape or form I am simply a happy customer.
We booked this online and I'll be honest when I looked at the photos I was questioning my choice almost canceled and booked somewhere else. I am very very happy I didn't do that. I have booked over 300 nights in rooms throughout Thailand in the last 10 years and I have to say this was probably the best of the bunch. I have stayed in between two star and four star accommodations and this particular accommodation on booking.com was rated two stars but it's vastly underrated. I can only assume it was rated to stars because there's no pool and no gym but it's got everything else.
The room is very large with a king size not a queen size bed very very nice linens super comfortable. Flat screen TV a kettle for water refrigerator great air conditioning coffee and water provided. A large balcony with some seats and a table and a rack to dry clothing. Included in the price is breakfast in the morning it's a light breakfast coffee juice they do some eggs for you and toast enough to get you started for the day.
In the bathroom all the amenities you need as well as really good water pressure which sometimes is an issue here in Southeast Asia. Very friendly staff very easy check-in.
Should I make it up to Chaing Rai again this will no doubt be my accommodation of choice.

Felt Like A Chiang Rai Local

I stayed at Baan Malai Guesthouse for 2 nights in November 2024. I enjoyed my stay at this family run guesthouse. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the bus station. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, great for light sleepers like me. But close to all the sites in the city such as the night bazaar, walking street, clock tower, restaurant and bars. I rented a motorbike from a nearby business and there was plenty of parking. The rooms are good, they are clean and the bed was very comfortable. They provided bottled drinking water daily. Breakfast was basic, but I generally don’t eat breakfast. If I return to Chiang Rai, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Excellent price ratio. Quiet street, but still close to the center and sights and bus station

Nice location, wonderfully quiet, spacious and clean rooms, the people are very friendly and a cozy breakfast room is wonderful to wake up to. Highly recommended if you are looking for a great place with a good price ratio, I would choose this location.

Sadly resertvation mistake...

We have stayed here many times over the past few years & have been more than happy. However I made a reservation in January for February, all was confirmed but on arrival our room had not been booked in, it was a Friday & apparently the week end was full. My wife & I are 79 years of age & active but we could not walk all over Chiang Rai looking for another room so we accepted an offer from the Owners of a small box room off the dining area. This was not really satisfactory but we had little choice. I am not writing this review to downgrade the Guest House but just to make people aware that if making a booking at the week end, double check & make sure that they have entered your reservation.
