Great experience

Bob ,who manages this place ,is an amazing host . The houses are real good in terms of structure and the ambience. Upstairs is the bedroom and downstairs the kitchen. WiFi is very good. Kitchen is fully functional with utensils and cooking ware. The place is away from the main city nestled in greenery . You can find a lot of solitude and romance here . Couple of good food joints nearby as well and a 7/11. City tours too can be organised via Bob . All in all a different and good experience for me.

Summary and old but exotic and welcoming

Very welcome from the host of the place. Bob is good advice for what to do.
Our room was busy but he rehoused us in another a little too “in his juice” for my taste.
The set is aging but sufficient for 2 to 3 days.
Located away from the city in a quiet location with shops 5’ away
And for these rates, there is no need to be too difficult

Peaceful and quiet 15 km from city

15km out but everything was nearby shops, restaurants and transport easy to source. Bob is a great host always checking with us to see all is ok with suggestions of what to do and where to eat. We booked for 2 nights and stayed 5. Tried new restaurants each day and all were great. The local market and the shopping mall were both 1km away where we could source everything we needed. Also the 7/11 a few minutes walk. The dogs became our friends and welcomed us home. Loved our stay. It is a rustic setting so if clean and tidy is your thing maybe not for you. We woke to the sound of birds and the bubbling stream.

Distinctly average food

Firstly, I have to say the location and decor are second to none in this beautifully fitted out Thai restaurant. The attentive staff were friendly and tried hard to please. The only downside was the distinctly average food. We had the fillet steak after a spirited recommendation from the "eager to please" waiter. I can only describe the meat as flavourless and without the sauce would have been inedible.
However, to be fair, it might have been the fact we chose the Thai sourced meat when we should have maybe chosen the much more expensive foreign sourced beef.

Great place to stay, outside of Chiang Mai

We really enjoyed our stay at Bob's. Bob is a great host. He picks up his guests, makes you very welcome at his place and has nice rooms. If you want he can organize a motorbike, tours and will provide you with everything you need to know about the neighborhood.
Han Dong is a village 15 k away from Chiang Mai, with some small restaurants with good food. A perfect place if you want to escape the city in the evening. There are plenty of buses if you rather not drive a motorbike.
We enjoyed the quietness, liked being woken up by the birds, and loved going for a run around the rice fields three kilometers away and when coming back being welcomed by Bob's dogs. If we come back to Chiang Mai we will definitely stay at Bob's again.
Thanks Bob for the great time.
