LESS IS MORE

Beautiful white sandy beaches. Sea water clean and a joy to swim in.
However starting to have an over proliferation of hotels and "dollar a day" tourists. Stayed in a2 star hotel Lucky Hotel which was really lovely and staff lovely too
On the beach and included breakfast. As we travelled around the island we saw huge black bags of rubbish a and dirt. Thai tour authorities need to define what kind of tourism/tourists they want.? The ecology and the tourism product should be protected or the island will become another Phuket - catering for mass cheap tourism. Thailand baht strong so Thailand not as cheap as previous. "Less is more" would deliver long term tourism and support local economy and jobs.

Not the best.

I wanted to love this place because it looked inviting on website. The WiFi is fast, the bed is comfy, and it’s in a great location. It even has mosquito screens and a Firestick-ready TV and A/C and ceiling fan. It was also lovely and quite n a night. They leave bottles of mosquito spray out for you to use. Which is great.
However, I cannot recommend it due to the lack of basic hygiene. The room was very dirty and dusty, with a rusty fridge and bathroom. We stayed for a week and never once received fresh towels or sheets. Management is also quite frosty; the owner seemed annoyed by a simple request, and the restaurant service is incredibly slow (waited 30 mins just to be told it would be another 25). Great tech, but very poor standards.

Very successful guest house

It's a really cool place. There are very few budget hotels on the expensive island and this is one of them. For a great price, there's everything you need. Clean room with air conditioning, kettle, refrigerator, TV, hot water, very comfortable bed and two balconies overlooking the garden. The beach is a 2-minute walk, there is also a shop where you can buy chips, water and fruit, the beach with sunset 15 minutes on foot , 7/11 10 minutes on foot. There's a disco at the beach tonight, you can't hear it in the hotel. Yes, the road is also near, but with the windows closed, you can't hear it either, there are sounds of nature around. It's very clean, polite and friendly. I was moved in at about 12, which was great.

Not 4 stars or 3

Location is good, right on its beach.
Hotel and rooms are a bit dated, décor needs updating.
Breakfast was limited in choice.
Take insects repellent, as I was bitten very badly and was scratching my arms and legs every day.
My room had large holes in the wall so insects would just entre the room.
Limited space for putting your cloths and toiletries in room and bathroom

Cheap and cosy

Stayed here for a week ish. It's around 1200 bht pr night. So, of course, it's not a 5 star resort. Service is friendly and simple. The bed is absolutely superb. Shower could do with a bit more pressure.
It's a short walk down a rather steep hill to the beach where there's a bunch of bars and nice restaurants.
I'll be back!
