Another great stay

We have stayed at this B&B several times over the years and it never disappoints. Clean comfortable rooms, tasty breakfast, private parking and friendly hosts. What’s not to like?!

Highly recommended

Very comfortable stay right in the centre of Ashbourne. Spacious, spotlessly clean room with everything we needed. Breakfast was substantial and cooked to order. Very old property with 'wobbly' floors and plenty of steps that gave it lots of character. We can highly recommend this guest house that is good value

Not up to expectations.

Stayed for 1 night in two rooms for a family trip ( 4 adults). The person who greeted us complained that they didn't know our name and that they weren't told to make up two beds in one of the rooms. We later realised that this was the owner.
The rooms were clean with good beds and clean bedding but there was an overall fusty smell. The curtains and carpets were old and not too fresh.
We were asked what we wanted for breakfast before we had even settled into our rooms and were told that the latest we could have it was 9am ( on a Sunday)
When we were out at dinner we decided to call and say that we didn't want a cooked breakfast so early and to save them making it asked if we could just have some toast and cereal later. Were informed that if we got downstairs before 10am we might be able to. Not the friendly service we were expecting.
We didn't bother and left by 10.30 without seeing anyone.

Quaint and Friendly House

Compton House is such a quaint, comfortable, and friendly B&B. The rooms had everything we needed, including a tea/coffee-making area, and en-suite bathrooms. The location was ideal as it was within a stone's throw from the centre of town, and so everything we needed was easily accessible on foot. We had more contact with Jane, who met our every need in the most accommodating way. She readily gave us advice on what to see, where to go in our spare time, and how to travel to Derby. Her husband David cooked the most delicious full English breakfast. We were a group of 5 adults and 1 child, but we felt welcomed. Thank you to Jane and David for making our wedding weekend stay so comfortable and enjoyable. We recommend Compton House highly, and would return readily!

Meh!

Great for walkers/cyclists/workmen I guess, but for us it was like staying with your grandparents.. but they didn't really want you there! (and we're old!!)
Small room, which was tired, dated & dusty around the edges. Garden was overgrown & tight area for parking. Had an atmosphere! Thought it was overpriced. Happy to leave!
