Refreshing drink in sunny beer garden after pleasant walk

We stopped here for a drink in the beer garden after a lovely walk around Watts Gallery and up on the Hogsback. It was a lovely sunny day and the staff were friendly, service was good and the Hogsback TEA beer was delicious. They don't serve food all day but we were happy with crisps.

What everyone imagines a pub lunch is like in England

Six of us booked lunch ere on Saturday. What a great place. We were greeted by a very animated chap who showed us to our table. Drinks ordered and delivered quickly. Great menu with plenty to choose. The fish cakes went down well. The fish and chips s generous. And the building itself is clearly very old. This is what everyone imagines that a pub lunch in England is like. About £80 all in per couple. Worth it.

Beautiful village inn

The staff were so welcoming and attentive. The inn is quaint, situated in a lovely village and is cosy with an open fire. The food was amazing and plentiful. Our room was clean, well appointed, warm and nicely decorated.

Wonderful stay at the withies

Excellent venue,welcoming management and staff, brilliant accommodation, excellent food,an amazing 16th century venue with original low ceilings and beams,excellent choice of beers and spirits and a excellent menu,we will definitely return and recommend to our friends and family

The most delightful mini break in a very lovely traditional country inn!

The Withies, Compton, Surrey had already been recommended to us and we are so delighted we came to stay here. This was our first stay in a hotel since prior to the pandemic and as I need to be specially careful, we wanted to be somewhere where we would feel relaxed and safe too.
The Withies is just lovely - a beautifully maintained coach house in peaceful countryside. We were welcomed by smiling and attentive bar staff and we specially appreciated the accommodation manager coming to welcome us and show us our immaculate room. She had been so reassuring when we made the booking and represented the very best of professionalism combined with warmth too.
We had an excellent light lunch prior to a beautiful five mile walk in the afternoon including Watts Gallery and a delicious evening meal and wine in one of the very lovely ivy clad pods in the garden. We were aware of how popular the restaurant is with clients for both lunch and in the evening, but without feeling any sense of being crowded. We had already met the charming owner of The Withies and were conscious how he spent time checking his guests were happy with everything - his staff are the same without anyone being intrusive. I can honestly say that the bed and bedding was perfect - so very comfortable and the shower room is beautifully appointed with a large rain shower and well chosen toiletries. We had breakfast in the restaurant - all part of this lovely traditional building and that too was ideal. Again the care the accommodation's manager took to make sure I felt safe and relaxed was wonderful and it made so much difference to us both. We loved our stay and really hope to return to The Withies again!
